Ive been using the eGO since march, im pretty sure my batteries are wearing out since ive had them for 7 months. Ive also just used the standard 510 atty's for this time as well.

But like the titles says I want more throat hit. I was probably going to just order some more batteries but if theres reason to switch to something else it seems now is the time to do it.

For juice i usually go with vanilla, coffee flavors, and tabacco types because they seem to give me the most throat hit as well.

Ive seen ego booster being mentioned, and LR attys, do you use these in conjunction with eachother? And any other suggestions for this?

Get LR atty's for a start. Quite an improvement.

Also, try the eGo T type B LR atty for another big improvement over the above. Cignot has LR type B atty's for $10, but you also need a set of tanks. Actually, I'd go to the tank right away. The draw is as good as a real cigarette and no filler taste.

I can't stand a standard 510 any more. Or any kind of cart or cartomizer.

I tried the Boge 2 cartomizers and was very disappointed, despite all the rave reviews they get.

Throat hit is 'nicotine' and 'heat'. So more mgs of nic the better the throat hit. Some flavorings simulate it - menthol, cinnamon, and the 'atomic' flavors. They help. The other thing is wattage. Joye eGos and the regular Riva batts run at 3.2-3.4 Volts under load. The Riva SE (special edition) and perhaps all new Rivas (although the SE for sure) run at 3.7V under load. And like billo says you could try an LR atty. And SE with an LR will get you around 8 to 9+ Watts (depending on how L the R is 1.5-1.8Ω) vs. the 5+ Watts with a Joye batt and regular eGo atty.... You can get in between there with just the SE Riva without the LR atty or an LR atty with the regular eGo batt.

The answer is in higher voltage. With a 5 volt mod I can get away with 12 mg nowadays (even if just barely) On 3.7 volt devices I need much higher nic content. Heat, heat heat...... Why use 24mg or 36mg if I can use 18 and get rock solid throat hit? Note: I DD and use an 801 atty and not 510s.

I haven't closely followed the development of the ego but last I checked, they were 3.2 - 3.4 volt devices.

Since going to a higher voltage means new equipment (differnt battery) switching to LR cartos or attys is a good first step as mentioned above.

For me, I switch between tanks and cartos depending upon which flavor strikes me that day. But I usually end up going back to something minty like peppermint lately. Just seems to have more "zing" and more satisfying.

Sounds odd, but with some flavors like watermelon or peach I usually dilute them down a bit so they're not so sweet. I do this by mixing in some plain old menthol at about a 50/50 ratio. And since I use a manual battery I can control the amount of vapor each time. The trick, for me, was to find the right menthol to mix in. Strangely enough, a mellow menthol with not too strong a flavor and having a VG base worked best. Kind of the opposite of what you'd expect since VG generally produces less throat hit.

So it pays to experiment.

I think throat hit is different for everyone. I find I get a better TH from my cheapo 7-11 e cig than my Riva 510, using any LR cartos I have tried but my GF feels exactly the opposite. My Riva puts out tremendously more vapor and I think that's why she thinks it hits harder but I don't.

Thus far, I have found the easiest way is using something "spicy" or menthol, full, or mixed with something else I like. I have yet to find something that really makes my Riva hit harder, anything I like better than the next is either that it produces more flavor, producers more vapor, or is more reliable/lasts longer and makes my day to day easier.

I have not tried higher voltage except with a passthrough. The one I have is cheaply made. I haven't checked the voltage to see if it is even accurate but I don't really like it so it isn't as pleasant to use. It is not solid, the button doesn't feel good, and it lets too much air in. I can't say for myself if it gives me a better TH because I notice everything else first.

That said, you can up the voltage that way, and have a useful accessory for fairly cheap. Just research and find a better one than I got. I just bought one without looking into it, not even sure what brand, just bought it with some fluid.
