So about a month ago I bought an eGo Vamo V2 (not sure if that is that actual model name, please refer to the picture below)
egoapv.jpg

A few days ago the standard CE4 atomizers that came with it stopped working. The unit still works with the eBlu type catridges, but I'm trying to figure out what happened and how to fix this.

The built in ohm meter reads the correct resistance for the eBlu catrdige, but reads out 9.9 for the CE4 (same "infinite" resistance reading you get when you try to read without a catridge).

Has this happened to anyone? Any insight in how to even diagnosis this? Did I just make a n00b mistake with buying this model?

Sounds like you just reached the end of the line with those clearomizers, they have a limited life, then have to be replaced periodically. Luckily, they are cheap, and if you are not married to the CE4 specifically, you can buy ones that you can replace the coil head on, like the vivi nova, T3, Protank, etc, and save a little money. But even if you keep replacing the CE4, hey, it's still cheaper than smoking.

Thing is, even the other unused CE4 is reading 9.9 ohm. And that is my primary concern. So I either have a busted well used CE4 and a busted never used CE4, or I have a bug in the unit. In all likelihood you guys are right (and huge thanks by the way for the quick reply) I just have this habit of assuming the worst.

In any case, thanks for the recommendations. If I were looking for a low maintence, long life, atomizer (or some other head, sorry still new to the lingo) what would be your one recommendation?

Stop now!

9.9 simply means the unit is not seeing a Complete circuit.(coil)

The center contact has been pushed down. Maybe the center pin on the Clearomizers is even pushed up. No pin to center post contact = 9.9

Go to the Vamo Subforum in APV discussion for Repair procedures if needed.
First try slightly pulling the Center pins down.(slightly)
