I think it's just the luck of the draw. I just had a Joye LR510 die after six weeks, but I had an EM LR die after a week. Do you drip? You have to keep LR atties really wet and I think it would be really hard to use a cartridge and keep it wet enough. I drip 3 drops and at the first hint of loss of taste or vapor, in go 3 more. I never clean or do any fiddling with atomizers, so if one lasts me longer than a couple of weeks I'm thrilled.

As for cartos, again, it depends on your preference. I use the eGo (huge) cartos and really like them. The only con is you have to use a syringe to fill them. They will hold at least 2 ml of e-liquid and that will last me most of a day. I also like using the eGo (huge) atties. A cartridge for them holds about the same as a carto. Both the atties and cartos for the eGo vape really well...great vapor and flavor.

ive gone thru two in 2 weeks. is it just the nature of the LRs?

do the cartos work better?

LR's atties can be like that. I have had some last me a month, some only lasted a week. You definitely sacrifice longevity for performance with these IMO. Just an observation, the ohms seem to make a difference. In my experience, the ones rated at 1.7 or 1.8 ohms seem to last me longer than the ones rated at 1.5ohms.

As far as cartomizers go, I have tried the ego cartos and found them to be a hassle. They hold a ton of juice, but filling them was a PITA. Right now I am using the LR 510 cartos from electronicstix.com (the 1.8ohm ones) on my ego and they are fantastic!

Atty questions:

Currently I have a T-Rex PV from My Freedom Smokes. It works wonderfully. The only problem I had with the starter kit was a DOA battery though being the terrific store owner that Chris is, he immediately sent out a replacement for the one that refuses to work. The DOA battery would not charge or anything. The replacement works perfectly as does the 2nd battery that came with the starter kit.

In addition to the T-Rex, I have an Ego I am testing and will write a review on it for Janty. So far, it works as well as the T-Rex although, IMHO, the only pro the Ego has over the T-Rex is that the Ego doesn't constantly light that ring of blue light never ending until removing it from the charger whereas the Ego doesn't flash when it's fully charged.

My income is severely limited because I am on disability for blindness; however, about 10 years ago I was diagnosed with lupus (SLE type) and Sjogren's. I lost my cushy office job because of the blindness and the fact that 99% of my work was sight related. Afterward, I began working as a medical transcriptionist only to have nerve damage that was inoperable begin to cause so much pain I had to seek further medical assistance because I had other problems occurring along with the nerve damage. In the end, the nerve damage then joint disease forced me to resign from my job as an MT where I was able to work at home and choose my own hours to work but I was no longer able to keep my line counts at the minimal levels to keep my job and the pain became too great as did the side effects of lupus (SLE) and Sjogren's as I was diagnosed in the moderate to severe stages.

My hubby became ill last year and as a result in addition to quadruple bypass, he is unable to work again. If he does, he can push himself into a heart attack. The severity of damage to his heart is so bad that if he should suffer another heart attack, the next one may very well kill him so we are working on getting him on disability but finally had to go through an attorney because I was unable to get beyond the red tape BS.

We still have a minor child at home who has needs of course and with the sole income of my disability for a little more than a year and a half now, there simply isn't much left over at the end of the month. I pick up as much freelance writing work as I can but often it isn't enough and/or the lupus and effects from it get in the way of my taking on more work at one time.

This is why I am hoping some of the veteran vapors can help me by explaining which is the best atomizers to use for the T-Rex and the Ego: The LR 510s or the standard 510 attys? Which is best and which will last the longest without the need to replace them?

I have one LR atomizer but for some reason when I use it, the atty tends to get hot, much hotter than the average 510 attys.

I have what I believe is one of the large cartomizers that has a mouthpiece and shaft together that screws into the T-Rex and the Ego; however, for some reason this thing tends to leak like a sieve. the large carto for the Ego/T-Rex/Riva works okay but it's a pain to fill up because I can't really gauge the amount of liquid in the carto as I can with the cartridges. the standard type carto with the similar round cap on each end (vs the large one with a cover over the mouth tip then another at the bottom that plugs into a recessed area that will screw into the T-Rex/Ego) works okay but it feels as if I am constantly refilling it but in the process because I cannot tell how much liquid is in it, it leaks through the bottom as I am filling it up. It would be okay if I didn't change flavors so frequently but I go back and forth between My Freedom Smoke's flavors of Cotton Candy, Juicy Peach, and Marshmallow along with a few others but these three are my primary "staple" flavors, if you will. I order the e-liquids about once a month and I do occasionally receive samples, which are wonderful and I cannot thank MFS enough for adding a sample of the new flavors. It gives me enough to vape if I happen to run low as well as allowing me to share my opinions of the flavors with others. You wouldn't believe the number of people in our little rural area I have shared information about e-cigs with and upon meeting them again later learned that not only did they try the PVs, they love them as much as I do. Each time I go out, I generally keep business cards from MFS with me and upon return, I am generally out of business cards. LOL! It's a great feeling to share this knowledge and help others leave analogs behind along with all the bad stuff in analog cigarettes then hear how much they enjoy their new PV units and e-liquids and most importantly, how great they feel physically after having given up analogs for good. It is one of those feelings where it is most definitely better to give than to receive. And even greater of a feeling knowing they will begin to notice the health benefits within a short time after leaving analogs behind such as being able to breath again, test foods, coffees, and smells of different things such as perfumes, flowers, etc... where before it was much more difficult because the analogs blocked those things through the clogging of the lungs and degradation of the palate and opening the sinuses to allow those new fragrances to come through exactly how they were meant to smell, not clouded by analog cigarettes. But I digress...

If anyone can give me a run-down on the LR atomizers vs the standard 510s or other types of 510 attys that will last and vape well/better with the T-Rex/Ego type of PVs, I would be most appreciative. My greatest desire is to get the best atomizer for the money and have it last as long as possible. I must say that my attys that were used with my first PV, the Janty Dura-C and then the Janty Stick worked well & many of the atomizers are still functional; however, I soaked them in a Listerine and others in Polident cleaner but went through a lupus flare and was not able to take them out and rinse them after the right amount of time and the paint came off of them. Now they have no paint and are hideous, according to my 13yo. I'd use them if I knew how to put color back on them but I don't have a clue what to use to even color them back in black despite reading how others have done more than simply repainted their PVs, they have actually added designs. I don't know how to do that or what type of paint to even try that won't burn off if the atomizer heats up while in use.

I'd like to use an Ego/T-Rex atty where I can get the most use from them without killing off the attys as fast as some who posted threads on here have lost their attys. Again, any assistance or instructions on how to prevent burnt attys and maybe even how to repaint them will be appreciated.

Thanks for your time and consideration. I've come to value the opinions of those here at ECF. You guys have yet to steer me wrong and I am thankful for it, more than you can ever know. I've had to to give up so much over the years because of financial and some health reasons but this is one vice I am just not ready to give up. It is the one thing I can still do and safely and even better, I actually have my doctor's blessings to use the PVs. He's been following my health every month since I began using the PVs. He's totally impressed with them, most of all, he is impressed by the fact that my lungs used to sounds like I filled them with milk and Rice Krispities but after one month, not even a full month either - it was closer to three weeks, he could not believe had didn't hear the crackles, franks, and thrills that he always heard in my lungs for all these years and suddenly it was gone and even better, now more than a year after I stopped using analogs, my lungs are still as clear, if not more so today than they were over a year ago. He wished all his analog smoking patients would switch to e-cigs, particularly after following my health every month for my lupus/sjogren's checkups.

Thanks again for any assistance....
