I have been using mega carts since I started vaping last Thursday. For now I am loving them and am still using the first two I started with and just added one to the rotation.
I am refilling with a syringe and it is working fine for me. Can I clean these carts when they aren't working anymore or should I just toss them? Also if I can clean them I might be able to change the juice. Either way I really like them but they are spendy. Of course I don't know how long the atty/cart combo works as I only vaped 10 minutes on those. :vapor:

Thanks

I personally don't use the fill in the carts more than 4 times or so. What you can do is remove the filler that comes with the carts and replace it with various materials. One that is quite popular is the lipton teabag mod, where you use the nylon teabag material to fill your cart. Here is a great video of how it's done.

YouTube - Shredded Pyramid tea bag mod

Also, check out http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/ for other ways people are modifying their cartridges.

Best of luck,
Tim

I have rinsed mine and gotten several more refills after I thought they were cashed. I use tweezers and hold it under running hot water and then I suck hot water into my syringe and squirt it through the top hole several times, doing a few thermometer shakes after each fill. Shake several times after you're finished and let it air dry overnight, give it a few thermometer shakes the next morning and refill with your liquid. As long as they keep producing vapor and don't have a bad taste, you don't have to toss them. They are more expensive to use than an atty and cart but I haven't figured out how to keep the megas from leaking and I just can't go back to the small ones after using the mega/ego cartos.

Thanks all,
Lyndagayle I am going to do that tonight with the 3 I have been using. Just put new ones on, they did last awhile. I started with the mega carts when I got my kit and I love them. Tried the atty/cart and didn't like it . Also was sent one LR cart but I have to constantly fill it, uses a ton of juice. If I can get the mega carts to go abit longer it would be great! Mine also leak when I fill them and I can't get the 2 plus ml they are suppose to hold, but I still like them

How long can the cartomizers last if you keep them moist and clean on a regular basis?

I just placed an order through healthcabin.net (they have a good sale on Joye eGos right now) and I grabbed 5 cartomizers along with 10 mega attys and 50 mega cartridges.

I figured I would grab the 5 cartomizers as a back up since they come in 5 packs for $12 (only $9.99 at greenhouseone).

If you clean and do regular maintenance I thought the cartomizers could end up being cheaper than the attys. 5 cartomizers for $10 or 5 mega attys/carts for $50. If the cartomizers have a life of more than 1/5 that of attys then they could end up being cheaper in the end, but I've never tried cartomizers before and the syringe filling seems like a bit of a hassle.

And do the cartomizers hold more than the mega cartridges? It says the mega cartridges hold 2.5 ml of e-juice and the cartomizers hold "more than 2.5 ml" of e-juice on healthcabin but I have no idea how accuate these claims are.

Don't know about the cartos, but the carts hold 44 drops (2ml) and they are a little on the wet side in the beginning so I refill using 35-40 drops = perfect. No, leaks here, in over 3 weeks using same cart, washed it out twice.

Are you using just the standard white fill that came in it?

Hey Switched, do the mega carts vape dry when using the regular fill?

I haven't received mine yet but I personally can never get my 510 cartridges dry and I usually cut the fill in half.

If I can actually vape most of the juice out of the mega carts I should be good with 2 filled carts every day and that's what I was looking for with the mega atty/cart combo. A set up where I would only need to refill once or twice at the most.

And it seems the mega cartos actually hold less than the mega atty/carts?

^ What juice would that be?

It seems the type of juice has a lot to do with how long a cart lasts, how dry you can vape them alond with vapor production and a myriad other things. It seems the juice can have more to do with the quality of the vape than the device used to vape!

Oh and I notice you're in Canada, so any advice on getting juice through customs or your experience with ordering whichever juice you use that vapes dry on your mega carts would be appreciated!

There is no magic secret wrt the juice, just the consistency/viscosity of the liquid. Although I roll my own, with a PG/VG base of 80/20, I kept with the intended viscosity of the original liquids. Whe adding VG, it needs to be cut 4/1 with distilled water. Some folks think this is diluting their VG, it is not. It merely allows it to flow better. FWIW I vape a 5-6V with standard carts, without burning either the filler or the atty. I vape 3-5ml/day.

High sugary content flavours or highly coloured flavouring does affect the wickabilaty of our liquids, especially in "cartos", not to mention fouling attys quicker.

I vape Dekang for my commercially bought liquids (RY4, 555, DK TAB, Cuban Cigar and French Pipe). What I have seen from many vendors is that their liquids are too viscous. They may be good for dripping, but that would be about it. Not to fault the vendors here, because many perfer dripping. I use the HighPing mod for my carts. It works extremely well and gives me a near dripping experience.

I haven't purchased liquid from abroad in a long time. Whe I did, I played poker and bought 16 x 30ml in one shot. 16 is what I believe to be a limit for box size to go through without raising suspiscions. I guess my tip would be to order juice and equipment separate. Should it get held up at Customs, you can defend if the package only contains parts, but you are SOL should it contain liquid.

... and yes, a 3.7V device is a 3.7V device and they all vape the same. The rest is just hype AFAIC.

^ So you use the HighPing cart mod on your mega eGo carts as well? I'm trying to figure out the best way to use these before I get them. I've heard of people using blue foam but I've never tried that with the 510s I have right now. I use the HighPing on my 510 regular carts right now, but usually cut it a little less than half, rather than as short as HighPing suggests.

I'm also worried about leaking, as I've heard the eGo mega carts have a leaking problem when they are not sitting cart down. I plan on carrying these around and they will get knocked around a bit, so I need to figure out the best way to use the mega carts to get as much juice in them without leakage.

Nope! the batting (stock) that is in there originally is good enough to do the job with my juice. The HP mod does not work on stock 801s though.

I only tend to have leaking issues when i leave the atty attached to the battery standing up. If I disconnect it and lay it on it's side, no problems. If I lay the assembled device on its side for an hour or so, no problems. If I lay it down assembled longer than an hour or leave it standing up (unless mostly empty) then I get leaks at the atty/batt junction. Don't know why, it just does.

With the mega xl carts, I've tried a dozen different mods now and still haven't found one that works better than the stock filler. The cone attys work with the same blue foam mod I use in my e-cigars and BE112s but they still have leak issues every now and then.

If it helps, I picked up one of the HeavensGifts ego lanyards and I store mine inverted when not in use. Seems to help. Just pull it out, flip it over, re-insert and vape away.

^ Thanks for the help. I'll have to check out the lanyard. Could help my gf as she always misplaces her e-cigs lol.

Are you guys that simply use the stock filler noticing that the mega carts are vaping fairly dry? Or do you need to refill them before they are fairly dry?

I can vape them fairly dry most of the time. Because they last so long I often find myself refilling more than topping off. Should I need to go out and want to make sure I have sufficient liquid for the duration, I will top off before heading out the door. Most of the time I refill when vapour production diminishes.
