First few days went fine.

Then it started sputtering a little hot oil into my mouth when I used it. Googled and was told it could be because the battery was low. I was new to it so I didn't know how long the battery lasted and the indicator isn't that great so I charged it fully and tried again. Same issue.

I switched from the 1 ohm to the 0.5 ohm atomizer. This stopped the sputtering issue however it gets seriously hot even with the air slot all the way open. It's not a deal breaker but it just doesn't seem right. I found that if I drew faster that would help keep it cool but now again I'm having the sputtering hot oil issue and it has started to leak out the air hole.

Can anyone suggest what's going on? I understand this thing packs a big punch in such a tiny space so that would explain why it's getting hot. But the sputtering and leaking makes it unusable. :(

It's the smaller version of the two. 1100 battery.

Thanks!

First thing is what vg pg ratio are you using, basically, your coil is flooding which is pretty common with these coils, my Ego One Mega did it, I replaced the tank with a black subtank mini..another story..
The 0.5 ohm coil shouldn't be getting over hot but the original Ego One was known to get pretty warm if chain vaped. Are you doing mouth to lung hits or direct lung inhales ? The 0.5ohm coil is best suited for direct lung inhales.
I would say you have a high pg juice and you only need to draw lightly on these coils or it will flood, blow through the 1.0ohm coil and use some paper towels to clean it up, you may need to do the same with the bottom of the tank through the AFC (Air flow control)..

I'm using cosmic fog euphoria right now, which I believe is 50/50. I'm a deep lung inhaler for sure. The 0.5 is way better for this but gets really hot, I switched to the "organic glass" mouthpiece so that the heat wouldn't travel to my lips as fast, but the tank still gets very warm. Should it not get warm at all? I've switched back to the 1 ohm for now.

If this simply isn't a fixable problem, should I upgrade to something better?

Yes the Ego One is known to get warm, it's in a lot of the reviews too, I'm afraid there is no fix and of course I would recommend an upgrade for sure, your a deep lung inhaler like myself,so an upgrade is the way to go, especially now with the new tanks, I think your going to be in for a treat :) . It depends how much you want to upgrade ?? Do you want to stick to the tube shape ones or go for a box mod with separate batteries ect ? Do you want to try temperature controlled coils or stick to the normal kanthal ones, either way, Im pretty sure you need to lower your ohms and higher your wattage, it's amazing I promise for us deep lung hitters

the ego one is known to have issues with that. I personally owned one and it would get so hot it hurt to touch it. There really isn't much you can do to solve it. I just ended up getting a new one.

Box for sure, more pocket friendly. Is there anyway I could upgrade the tank first and continue with the battery I have for the time being? I really don't want to be blowing out close to $100 on a bunch of new stuff especially after the $45 on this.
I would recommend buying an itaste mvp 3. They can be a little pricy but they are nice.

Honest answer no, not with the that battery, if you had the Ego One Mega then yes, I'd be recommending a subtank mini with the new vertical coils..

Ah poop. Oh well I'm pretty sure I can sell this to the mother in law. She's an ex smoker so might suit her better, get $30 off her and come see you guys again for some purchasing advice.

So what floods the coil easier, VG or PG?
PG is much thinner than VG and drawing on it hard, the coil can't vaporize the juice quick enough and you get flooding, although to much VG in the Ego one, you can get dry hits, 50/50 should be ok really, you just need to draw lighter on it after it's cleaned ...I would love to point you in the direction of what I think will suit you but I won't yet, as you say, when you have some free cash, come see us, we can sure help you spend it on ECF..

50/50.

Rixsta go head and suggest away. $100 providing I can get $30 for this would mean I'm out $70 so that seems like a fair budget. I don't want anything where I have to make my own coils. And I would take better build quality over anything else like features and cloud volume.

Landin thanks for your input too, both of you super quick replies really surprised me.

As far as I know it doesn't make much difference with that. But he definitely knows more about that then me so listen to him on that. Do you use full pg or vg?
I've only even had the Ego One Mega but they use the same coils, I'm not 100% sure it's that either, there are many factors of what it could be ..

Well I was going to suggest the Freemax Starre just because the coils are still the best pre built coils I have ever used, they are just so good with the 0.25ohm coil at around 60w.. So in that respect I would suggest the Starre with the Segelei 100w plus box mod and a couple of 18650 Sony VCT5 batteries and a nitcore i2 v2 or i4 charger and all you troubles will be gone..With that setup I would lower my nic to 3mg and use a higher vg juice or it will blow your head off..

But I think that maybe a slight overkill for you just now, I'm not sure, I can only suggest as there are so many tanks and mods..... with that said, I would also recommend the new Kanger Subox starter kit, it will work out cheaper, works amazing, looks amazing and wont drink up your juice as quick, you will still need a 18650 battery and charger but I think you would be happy with that setup and may suit you better (get the white one!)

I think maybe the kanger starter kit would be my better option. Only uses 1 battery so I don't have to worry about portability... I don't have a car so it's going to be sitting in my pocket if I want to take it with. Plus it seems to be a more affordable option.
Today I bought an istick 50w and so far it is working wonderful but the ohm reading is a little off. The istick I relatively cheap and I think you get more then you pay for.
