Maybe 3-4 times a week I'll find it convenient to use one of my pass-through mods at my laptop with its USB 2.0 plugs...

But...I just ordered a new HP laptop that has only USB 3.0 (one) and USB-C (two) plugs...

Are these "backward compatible"...where they'll be able to use my mod's USB 2.0 plugs?

Or...do I need to purchase some sort of "USB 2.0 to USB 3.0/USB-C" adapter???

..

USB 3.0 was designed to be backward compatible with USB 2.0, so if the 2.0 plug fits into the computers USB 3.0 receptacle, you should be fine. Still, a plug-in wall charger is probably preferable for ecigs; a computer is an awfully expensive power supply.

USB-C plugs and receptacles have a different design, so an adapter/dongle would be necessary.

Okaaaaay! I just rebuilt my first CLR coil! Tasting mighty fine. woo!

What wire material? What ohm and core size?

I have tried in them the following. SS and Kanthal. Tried 2 mm center, 2.5 mm center and 3 mm center. The 2 mm seems to work best. SS seems to have slightly better flavor but hard to get desired ohm with the low resistance of the wire.

Have used 30 awg, 28 awg and 26 awg. Have settled so far on 28 AWG. Sometimes use SS but leaning towards sticking with Kanthal at around 1 ohm

Mine was 28AWG, 3mm diameter, kanthal. Worked great (1.7 ohms and I can use them on my old Provis!).

30 ga Kanthal, 2.5 diameter, 4 wraps, 1.4 ohms, cotton wick.

When I get the small ones, I'll go for a higher ohm to use on the Provari Minis, too!

I'm really happy with my SS316L at 30awg 10 wraps 2.5mm stuffed with cotton. They come in @1.4-1.5Ω. Tried 3mm but it restricted airflow a little too much for me. I know that's a lotta wraps in the little CLRs but its worth squeezing them in. With all that wire surface I can hardly tell the difference between my old .65 builds and the new 1.5 builds. So now I can get a vape equal to Subohm outta my old VV/VW mods that won't fire below 1.2. Makes this grumpy old man a happy vaper.

Ahhh, if you are saying it, I am believing! I've been kind of afraid of trying rayon because of all the stuff about getting it so tight into the coil and trimming the wicks, etc, that I've just felt sort of intimidated. I KNOW HOW FOOLISH I SOUND!

I find rayon so much easier to wick with than cotton. It needs to be tight but not so tight that it distorts the coil. With the CLR coils I leave a bit of a fluffy bunny tail on both sides - tootle fluffer tails.

I liked Rayon ok, worked fine but I like cotton also. I'm always switchin stuff around. Matter of fact next time home I wanna throw some cotton yarn and cheesecloth in my vape kit to play with again.

In the CLR I don't think Ya need to worry about that feathering the tails of the rayon stuff like RTA builders do. I didn't. Just whack the ends off.

YAY for bunny tails (for those who recall...)!!!

Jus wunderin. Has anyone else gotten so confident in these tanks that you regularly lay in bed vaping them upside down?

Absolutely.

 I thought I was the only one who did that!

I have and do it fairly often when I'm reading. I try to remember not to leave my mods horizontally on the bedspread though. I lay them horizontally on my chest, if anywhere other than vertically on my bed stand. Lots easier to wash a shirt than a bedspread. :)

I guess my head is usually propped up a little, so my mod is a little shy of upside-down, tho...

You don't sound foolish at all. It's all a matter of personal preference.

Cotton is all I use too.

I do!
