They keep charging. The battery has built in hardware that won't allow the battery to overcharge but of course that is the only protection and we all know the electronics in ego batteries will die so don't think of it as a guarantee.

A properly working eGo charger stops providing current to the battery at the end of the charge cycle when the light turns green. Have yet to have an incident with a Joyetech eGo charger, no matter how long the battery was left on it at the end of the charge cycle.

The problems start coming up with these hack job kits that come with one piece USB to eGo adapter that don't actually have any charging circuit at all, providing 5 volts directly to a hacked battery. The protection circuit built into the battery was never meant to substitute for a properly designed charger.
