When I first started looking for an upgrade to my original cig-a-likes I was totally confused as to what all the alphabet letters meant. I was so confused by it that it was several months before I took the plunge and upgraded.

I finally contacted a vender that I trust. He told me that they are all the same battery. The only difference is the juice delivery device attached to it. They ALL have 510 and Ego threading and will work with any juice delivery device with either 510 or ego threading.

So... if you are as confused as I was, rest easy. It is simply the manufacturers adding different letters to basically the same product.

Hopefully this will help someone else out there that is/was as confused as I was.

If you do a search here... something like Ego T vs C or Ego T C difference... I think you'll find many members disagree. I can't remember just now what the exact reasons are because I only use the C having read up on it. Yes, you can use them the same way but, evidentally, the C is a better battery.

Oh, and make sure you buy an "upgrade" either way you go as they have a lot more features. Some vendors are still carrying the older non-upgrades and for the same price yet. One of the features I use extensively is the "below 50% warning light color" and I charge then letting the battery charge run out shortens its life. If the battery description doesn't say "upgrade" read the operating instructions. Good vendors will have one. If it only says 5 click and its off/on then its not an upgrade... but you can use "contact us" and ask before buying.

See this:

While it is true that all have a 510 connection, there are some differences...

In the Joyetech line the changes in the batteries:

First eGo's white button, goes out when it needs recharged.

eGo-t - similar to the first eGo's.

eGo-t upgrade - 5 click on/off for button and better short and charge protection.

eGo-c - 5 click on/off button and the led on the button changes from white to light blue to dark blue to indicate the amount of charge left. Best short and charge protection.

eGo-c upgrade - same as above but has 2 modes - one where you have the constant regulated voltage of 3.3-3.4Volts and a variable mode that acts like non-regulated 3.7volt batts - 4.2V off the charger, 3.6-3.7V for most of the charge, going to 3.2V at the end. Also best short and charge protection.

Joyetech batts come three sizes 650mAh (6.5 hours, ymmv), 900mAh (9 hours and a half inch longer than the 650), 1000mAh (10 hours and over an inch longer than the 650).

There is also the Joyetech eGo-c Twist - variable voltage batt that goes from 3.2v to 4.8v and a dial on the end where you can dial in the voltage you want. It also has the 5 click on/off but not the changing led button color to indicate charge. It also has the best short and charge protection - anything that is Joye eGo-c does. It comes in 650, 900 and 1000mAh and each is longer than the same mAh batt in the non variable volt models.

And lastly, the Joyetech eGo-c upgrade usb passthrough in 650mAh and 1000mAh - has the good protection, on/off, led change on charge and a usb port where you can stay hooked up (keeping the voltage in the 4V range, ymmv) or remove from the usb for traveling away from charger.

All need an eGo rapid charger rated 420mA. Using any other charger is not a good idea.

All the 1100, 1300mAh batts are not Joye's and there are many clones and knockoffs of All of the above, some rather good, some not. None have joye's short and charge protection but they do have regular charge protection.

Almost all other letters added V, W, RS, etc. are not Joye but clones of some type.

Being a noob, I didn't really understand the difference between the T and the C when ordering a kit. I received the T when I thought I was getting the C that was pictured. The vendor told me that they were the same when I questioned him. Obviously, I dont buy from that vendor anymore.

Even though there are a few difference in the batteries mentioned above, the real difference between the eGo-t and eGo-c is that the eGo-t has the coil and atomizer body all in one: ...(disregard the 2nd pic.. .it's part of the jpg :- )

egot04.jpg

The eGo-c has ... from the battery up - coil unit 'holder', a separate coil unit, and atomizer body (just the shell)... then the tank which can be used on both the t and the c.

And people say the 808 models are confusing. ;)

Thanks for that explanation Kent. Always wondered about all those eGo's.

Unless there is a money consideration, the eGo-c or the eGo-c upgrade or the eGo-c Twist is what to focus on. The Twist is a vv - and in most places, the eGo-c and the eGo-c upgrade are at or close to the same price so I opt for the eGo-c upgrade. Then it's just a matter of what size.

I doubt there's an eGo in my future, except maybe one of the quality auto versions. Would be nice if Joye released an auto VV though, especially now that some 808 vendors are starting to.

I am quite happy with my Ego T-2 upgrade passthrough, so far. There is definitely a difference between it and other Ego-letter models. It took me a lot of research to find out that it did what I needed to before buying it. The letter nomenclature is confusing. The manufacturers website is not very helpful either. This is the place to find the info you need. I am happy with my results.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I read that the "C" has improved circuitry and also will warn you, via led flashes, when its running a low charge, while the "T" does not have these features. Is this incorrect?...thanks.

The differences with eGo series!

Leaving aside the differences/controversies between Janty, Ovale and Joyetech lets take the systems/devices manufactured by Joyetech alone for the discussion here.

Joyetech manufactures the 510, e-Go, 510-T, eGo-T, eGo-C, eCab, eGo-C Twist, eRoll and the eVic. Well, all of these models are, mainly, due to their natural progression into the e-Cigarette technology. And essentially/typically in that order! So, let's discuss each a bit.

The 510: Joyetech's pioneering design. A Cig-a-Like with a big bang(!)... uh - considering that 'what' it intended to do with the mass-produced Cig-a-Likes that time. It indeed gave (does till date) a better VTF. This device is a three-piece-system, aka Battery+Atomizer+Cartridge type e-Cig. Unlike the other Cig-a-Likes in the market which are two-piece ones (Battery+Cartomizer). Note: The cartridge here is "tissue-filled", which soaks the e-juice.

The eGo: Joyetech's flagship model. A little larger than the 510, b'coz it's a "pen-style" device, which are 2nd generation e-Cig models. Again a three-piece entity, very similar in design as the 510 but with a different sized atomizer, which is sturdier, heavier and offers better VTF. I'd see it as a techno-progression. With this design Joyetech introduces different sizes of batteries, off course with better power and a whole lot of accessories/spares.

The 510-T: Note here > the "T" stands for "tank". This one's the same 510 which they pioneered, but now the cartridge is an "empty refillable tank". The reasoning: freer flow of juice, which albeit gives a much smoother vaping experience. This is an improvement in their delivery technology... and is easier to 'fill' thus, being convenient.

The eGo-T: Again, the "T" stands for "tank" here. A ditto product, just that the cartridge is a fillable tank, as introduced in their 510-T model. It was therefore only natural that Joyetech offer that tanking experience to their flagship model too. No more - no less.

The eGo-C: Well, with eGo-C Joyetech commenced a different game. Note here > the "C" stands for "changeable". Changeable what? Their Atomizers. It is the same eGo device as introduced before, but now it's atomizer unit stands subdivided into three parts, which are user replaceable. The intention: Savings, costs + valuable resources. Previously if the atomizer failed the consumer had to toss the entire unit and buy a fresh one. It was expensive. Now we get a choice, of replacing either the Atomizer Head, the Atomizer Base, or the Atomizer Body (also called Cone). The biggest progression Joyetech makes hereon is to standardize the Atomizer Head. This eGo-C Atomizer remains the same as to be used in their successive models, aka the eCab, the eRoll and the eVic (this one can take in other types of atomizers as well).

The eCab: Based on popular demand, Joyetech manufactures a true "Pen-Style" e-Cig... true to that style form... sleek, stylish, powerful and offering generous VTF. Note here > "CAB" stands for "changeable atomizer and battery". With this one the consumer now can play with interchangeable configurations. There are colorful batteries, bodies, cones etc. -- a very youthful device indeed!

The eGo-C TWIST: This is a game-changer. With the TWIST Joyetech introduces VV (Variable Voltage), which was in much demand by the advanced vapers and many 'other' manufacturers were already offering, some shady, some OK, while some really good. Joyetech just joins the bandwagon and produces a quality product. The acclaimed eGo-C now becomes a true APV. The "Twist" moniker comes due to the fact that the eGo-C battery, in this module, has a bottom cap (which is a knob) which could be "twisted" (spinner) to select different voltage outputs of the battery. This unit now is also colorful, comes in three different mAhs (650, 900 & 1000) thus, gin=ving the user varied choices. The marvellous benefits of the eGo-C TWIST is another discussions altogether.

The eRoll: This e-Cig is a different take on the Cig-a-Like segment. This is Joyetech's another game-changer. This is, by far, the best Cig-a-Like in the globe as of Mar-2013, IMHO. This one's a next-gen e-cigarette. A mini form-factor but doling out VTF just like a Mod/APV. I've written much about it in my review, a link to which can be found in my signature.

The eVic: With this device Joyetech brings their product portfolio to encompass the 4th generation APVs. A hint from the ProVari, Vamo, Zmax et al, but with a notch higher technology, and thus style. Now, it's another matter that it's launch is a bit marred with various issues (read the numerous user blogs on it), but the fact remains that this device is space-age, as of now. Incidentally, eVIC stands for "Electronic Vapour Intelligent Cigarette". Essentially the eVic is an eGo-C with enormous amounts of goodies incorporated inside.

Endnote
I hope the foregoing had shed some much needed light on the eGo series, from Joyetech. The eGo model of e-Cig technology has been re-branded by many other manufacturers, as well as 'copied'. It's thus, worthwhile to mention here that it's indeed a very successful type of e-cigarette. Somewhere around 2012 the eGo battery also received an 'upgrade', which introduced intensified short circuit protection, discharge and overcharge protection, High-safe, high-capacity, high-magnification and a high-stability dedicated lithium battery. Obviously if we decide to buy an eGo now we MUST purchase the upgraded ones.

Yep. That's in the "mentioned above" part on batteries -

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-type-models/398058-ego-t-ego-c-ego-xyz.html#post9092497

...this was on the atty/tank part of the 'system'.

LOL...somehow I missed that...thanks...I was only talking about the batteries and their differences. I was a bit ticked when I was told that the T and C batteries were "the same". Obviously, they arent:

"eGo-t - similar to the first eGo's.

eGo-t upgrade - 5 click on/off for button and better short and charge protection.

eGo-c - 5 click on/off button and the led on the button changes from white to light blue to dark blue to indicate the amount of charge left. Best short and charge protection."

When an old one goes, I replace with an eGo-c. There will probably be something better than that someday and I'll do the same  The eGo-t is fine. When it isn't - switch it out.
