I just got my eGo-T; happy as can be! :toast:

But, I want to do the wick mod with the pyramid tea-bag, just to ensure good wicking.

Here's the question: how hot does the atty burn? See, I can go and get wood-stove rope at my local hardware store... the which is made of fiberglass. I looked it up, and it's rated for 1000° F; silica is rated @ 2300°. The oft cited wick-mod dude uses strands of silica rope, which is used for the same thing: insulating wood-stoves, &c.

Being so conveniently handy, I'm wondering if I should go ahead with the 1000° rated fiberglass strands--

FYI: I'm vaping the stock res atty, and the stock voltage batt.

One thing I'm gonna try first thing tomorrow, is go to a fireplace shop that does maintenance-- I figure they might just have some silica around, and maybe I could buy a foot off of 'em. Heck-- maybe they'll just give it to me; when I went to rite-aid to get a syringe to fill cartos for my first system, when I told 'em what it was for, they gladly gave it to me, and wished me the best of luck!

So, maybe you could google around, find a repair shop, and try that, too.

Sorry if this is awaking an old thread... but it seems like the right thread to wake up to talk about substitutes for silica rope... I can't seem to find the stuff in Korea. It may be my lack of language skills (I don't even know much about it in English lol).

I assume most poly materials are out... and nylon rope would almost certainly disintegrate (and taste awful)... PTB is made out of PET, isn't it? That would also melt. Browsing a fire-......ant site, I saw graphite rope, too... rated at 1500F, which might be alright. I've seen ceramic rope, too...

Coming back to Fiberglass, isn't it fiberglass originally in the eGo-T? Perhaps there are different types, some better than others?
