eGo Tank atty...LR or Type B? I need FLAVOR!

Signed up months ago on ECF, but never posted my Newbie posts. So, gotta post this question here.

I'll start of by a quickie intro. I was a dedicated PAD (or more) smoker for 20+yrs. Yup...I'm kinda gettin' old. I started vaping back in Oct 2010, and my last analog was Dec. 29th 2010. Started w/regular 510 w/carts, then moved to the eGo w/carts, and have been sticking w/the eGo & drip tips for the last couple months.

I occasionally have a drive of at least 2hrs, and was SO looking forward to my eGo tank system. I was VERY disappointed. Tastes like plastic. If I wanted to vape plastic, I'd light up a drinking straw and suck. ;-)

My QUESTION is...does anyone have any opinions or advice on the new eGo tank LR and eGo Tank type B atties? Do either of these have a vast improvement in flavor over the type A tank? Which would be my best bet to go with? LR T or Type B T?

Thanks in advance!!

I'd suggest getting some boge 2.0 cartomizers for your ego. Fill up 2-3 so you can quickly change them when they become dry. Each hold a ml. of liquid. Then refill them at night.

Even when the tank is working perfectly, I think it's a much 'cooler' somewhat lighter, airier vape. I didn't mind that, maybe because I vape menthol. Just my personal opinion, but I think you get a richer vape with cartos and more consistent. I have no experience with the LR or Type B. Frankly, I'm going to wait a few months until all the reviews come in. I'd rather spend the 20 bucks on cartos- I know what I'm getting with them.

I jumped on the tank due to the rave reviews but most of the reviews were from people using the tank for a couple weeks.

Dusty, both the LR (they work great!) and the type B have improved taste IMO. i heard they got LR type B's in at cignot (the day i got my type b regular in the mail.)

Before getting the type b i was dripping on a regular 510 (my lr type a's had all gone south) and the type b seems pretty close flavorwise to dripping (blasphemy i know!)

the lr type a's are warmer, and you will bring different flavors out since the coil will get hotter.

Considering the price of entry on type b (16 for atty (standard resistance) and another 7 for a pack of tanks...
BUT based on my current experience (2 days with type b) I think I will be B'ing it for now on :)

PS the only carto's ive tried are some of the new ce2 r5 clearomizers, and while they are ok, i like the massive amounts of vapor from lr type a tanks, or the type b. (admittedly the ce2 is pretty close to analogue in hit, and the coil at the top gives you hot vapor (also burns your lips if you dont use a drip tip! but again, im a massive plumes guy :)

as swedishfish said tho, the qc on these tank systems is kinda meh, so its a bit of a crap shoot if they are going to be perfect (the type b leaked near the end of my first tank, but tank two seems to be working well (maybe the wick needing working in?)

I personally never got the plastic taste from the tanks... but thats just me :)

Thank you swedishfish & jerky666 for your quick responses to my question! It's wonderful food for thought. After investing in the eGo Tank (type A) setup, I'm a little leery of spending any more money on anything untried...I'm a big wuss lol. I read though SimpleCJ's eGo-T Wick Mod, and might give that a try. Some say they are getting more flavor after doing it. Just gotta figure out where I'm going to get the silica rope.

I'm curious about the flavor in the cartos. I never cared for the regular cartridges, as I could always taste the batting/filling burning. Eventually, I used the PTBs, but just found dripping to be less hassle, and better flavor. Do you know what the cartos are filled with, if anything? Will I need a syringe to fill them? Is there less (as jerky says) "plume" lol? I do dig a good plume. ;-)

I will give some thought to the type B atty too, and keep my eye on the forums for reviews....they seem to be finally making the rounds to several vendors now. I've never tried any of the LR atties. I know some folks swear by them, but I never even considered it (
I've always been satisfied with just a regular 510 & my drip tips). But after my tank experience, I may give thought to a type B LR.

Thank you again for giving me some feedback on this issue!! It is very much appreciated!! I only have this drive once or twice a month, but it sure would be nice to have something that works well for those times. :)

THANKS! You guys rock! :thumb:

I tried the LR for the heck of it and while it has more flavor than the A, it still is pretty muted. The design has juice sitting in an unnumbered plastic tank just above the atty which heats it. It will always get the plastic taste and even if stronger juices overpower it, the hot plastic will still be there. Using the eGo-T tank in the car never works for me. At home my LR doesn't leak but as soon as I start driving I get a mouth full of juice almost every time. Must be something about the way I vape while driving but the tanks do take some concentration to take the proper hit to avoid leaks. I second the try cartomizers for travel. Load a few to go, no leaks no worries.

They all have a muted plastic taste in my opinion they are junk ! Nothing beats a Bottom or top feed Mod with dripping coming in right there with them, for convienece the feeder (Driving) and all around but dripping into an Atty is still great flavor and plumes of vapor. Grab a couple Iken 510'S and your set ! his V2 Gold dripping carto's are pretty good too.!!!

I bought the ego tank and used it for a few days. Absolutely HATED IT. All I could taste was burnt plastic and felt like I was holding a cigar. I e-mailed the company and asked if they would take it back. They did and refunded my money, thank God.

Well...glad I'm not alone in my disappointment. Glad you were able to get your $$ back! I kept mine, in hopes that some good mods would come out, and I could tinker w/it.

I have used all the tanks type A reg and lr. Type B reg and I really like them all. I soak all my empty tanks for a few mins when I get them in a little Dawn dishsoap with 1 drops of bleach and rinse well in real hot water and I have had no plastic taste. The flavor is better on the lr and the type B. I haven't tried the B lr yet. I did get a Turbine tank from Got Vapes and I gotta say this is the best tank I have used so far. I have only been using for a couple of hours but it works really well and the flavor is great. I am using it on my buzz at 3.6v. This atty tested at 2ohm.

I started with the eGo Battery and 510 cartomizers. Liked it.

The tanks sparked my interest, so we invested in them. I've used the type a for about 2 months. Liked it a lot, and I've never experienced the plastic taste. I heard about the new LR B type, tried it, REALLY liked it. It killed off my batteries, apparently when the resistance went wonky. Didn't know I needed to test it. I went back to the regular.

My experience is limited though, I've only used Joye eCigs.

I have used the tank system for around a month, 1st take on it, good easy set up, then I started to have problem, burnt taste and wick was getting gunked up, so I work on cars for a living so I started to fiddle with it, I removed the needle plate and cleaned up real good adjusted the wick and starting workin great again but a few tanks later, tasted like crap, so I decided to fiddle again, and took needle plates out of my regular resistance and and LR atty, removed the wick out of the plate with the metal holding material, placed both wicks in some alchohol, let them sit for a few hours, took them out, dried them and then took some tweezers, burned them until they were almost white again, reinserted back into needle plate in original position, until the mesh was level with the bottom of the needle plate, placed the plate back in the atomizer body, primed with juice, let sit with a full tank for an hour, also put 4 drops thru the battery hole and let sit for a little bit, placed on battery, took about 10 puffs without inhaling, and seems to be working better than new. I know this is not recomended but I dried burn the coils with the needle plate out until they glowed red with blowing on it in cycles so they wouldnt burn up. this is not recommended and cause cause you to damage your atomizer but it did work for me. anyway hope this might help some of you. this is what worked for my tank atomizers if it does not for any of you, I apoligize, just tryin to chime in with something that worked for me.

I started with the tank, and recently picked up some regular 510 atomizers to give this whole dripping thing a try. That lasted about 15 minutes before I figured out it wasn't for me. To much trouble, not enough gain. Not sure if I got a batch of bad 510 atomizers or what, but I will not be leaving my ego-t any time soon. Honestly, if I had to drip all the time, I would go back to analogs.

Like so many, I got an eGo-T as my first post 'Smoking Everywhere' ecig [[about that in a separate post]] an the taste was awful. After a few vapes, it got burnt. I hated it. I ended up ordering a bunch of Boge 2.0 low rez cartomizers --- Yes, I have been stalking these forums -- and a coupe cones. Tanks are gone and I am using the batteries. I love it now! Tanks are in the trash.
