Hi Guys, I need some help picking a first ecig for my dad. He is a heavy smoker, smokes two packs a day and this will be his first real ecig. He bought an ecig once before from the mall, but it was a cheap one that he complained he couldn't get a hit from. This fathers day, like any other holiday, birthdays, Christmas etc., he wants a carton of cigarettes from my brothers and I. But I am going to surprise him with a good ecig instead. After reading the forum, it looks like the Ego Twist would be his best option for getting a good hit and feeling like a real cigarette. I am finding many online stores that sell them, but I don't know which place is best to buy from. Below are a few places I found - one says it's a 900 and the other is 650 is that a big difference? Do both include everything he will need, except the juice? : eGo Twist 900 mAh CE4 Starter Kit Joyetech Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery

eGo Twist 900 mAh CE4 Starter Kit

this is the one that will include everything to get started for him, the second link you posted is just the battery itself.

I recommend picking up either a vision clearo-tank or a few more clearo's, since you said your father smoked a lot, I would assume at first he is going to vape a lot.

But other than that, yes it gives you everything you need To start vaping!

Make sure you pick him up some strong juice at first 18mg+ get a few sample kits, they are generally pretty cheap and you can get a wide variety of flavors for him to try. Maybe pick up an atty and a drip tip for cheap so he can try the flavors before dedicating a tank or clearo to a flavor. Don't overwhelm him just carefully explain to him how to do it slowly and then when he likes a flavor, to use a tank or clearo.

You can get all that I listed there for the price of a carton of cigarettes, and you have many weeks of vaping out of what was suggested!

best of luck, any questions feel free to post!

I would suggest foregoing the kit, buy separates. Two of everything, the joytech batteries, a 5-pack of clearomizers, TWO chargers.. they aren't that well built and do fail randomly.. I found that out the hard way!

And don't forget JUICE ! If he smokes THAT much, a simple sample pack won't last him long. I go through 4-5ml daily, and I was a regular smoker.. he may go through more. I would recommend a 50.50 pg/vg mix and 24mg nic.

I would second buying 2 chargers - I've had 2 fail on me over the past year, and if you don't have a B&M locally to get another one the same day, it is a pain! If you go with getting the items separately, get the clearomizers with the replaceable heads. I started off with egos and still use them, so I think it's a good choice. I hope that he likes it and uses it!

(I'm going to assume you are not vaping yourself and know nothing about it, so these suggestions are not meant to be condescending if you already have some knowledge)
Yes, this would be a excellent starter kit. I was a heavy smoker too and I would suggest you make sure you get the twist version as he can adjust it for a better hit.
You will also need to add:
1) e-liquid from somewhere - I would recommend 20mg of nicotine if he is smoking full-flavor cigs. If he uses it at the same rate I do, 30ml should last about a week or so. If he doesn't like the flavor you pick, make sure he knows there are thousands of others out there to choose from (and also higher/lower nicotine levels)
2) a second twist battery to have charging while using the other - this is a must, don't wan't to stand there waiting a couple hours for it to charge when you're having a nic fit. The batteries can be bought alone outside a kit.
3) not necessary, but useful for faster charging - usb/wall adapter

Sorry - missed one of your questions - the diff between 650 and 900 mah. I'm not electroncially inclined, but basically the higher the number, the longer the battery will last. I have a 650 and a 900 both, and starting from when I wake up, I go through one, put it on the charger, go through the second one, put it on the charger and start the first one again. So, about 2.5 batteries a day. The twist also comes in 1000 mah, but I don't know how easy they are to find in a kit. I just ordered one yesterday, so I will have 3 batteries.

For what it's worth, I've had two twists - one at 650mAh and the other at 900mAh. Both of them are dead now. They crapped out after a couple of months of use. Never tried the vision spinner but that's the close equivalent. I got both of my parents off analogs once I started vaping and they haven't turned back. Good luck - It's a great thing you are doing.
