When I use a vision ego v2 clearomizer on Twist it gets hot. I set the twist to 3.2 take a taste than move up the volts to 3.7 v taste and move up by 2 until 4.4v the clearomizer bottom and the top of the twist got hot. Now I know that I keep tasting it to get to my sweet spot for that juice, so is that why it gets hot, and is this bad. Will it mess up the clearomizer or the twist.

I know that even with my LR 2.0 510-T attys on my EGO/RIVA they get hot after 3 or 4 pulls in a row. They get very hot to the touch, but will generally cool down in a couple of seconds.

I would just set it down for 10-20 seconds when you notice it get hot.

Does it only get hot when increasing the voltage, or does it get hot when vaping at 4.4v regardless?

What resistance are they? The 1.8Ω works at about 3.4v, 2.4Ω @ 3.7v, and the 2.8Ω up to 4.2v.
If you run any atty at to high a voltage the result is excessive heat.

Is this what you are calling a V2?

    from 4.0 v to 4.4v

The Resistance is 2.1 to 2.4v The v2 is the one with the long wicks.
