Yes, it should be fine.
Just for safety's sake, I do recommend charging any
batteries on a flame-resistant surface. For example:
- stove top
- marble counter top
- pyrex glass dish
- metal cookie pan
Statistically, most battery incidents occur while they are charging. Ego batteries are Li-Poly in chemistry, which are not safe chemistry (meaning they can vent into flames when they go into thermal runaway). Although there are protection circuits installed in the battery & charger, electrical components can always fail. That's not worth loosing a home or a life.
Never charge a battery when away from home and not able to keep an eye on the battery/charger.
