I've used the ego-T, which I like because the battery has a shut-off for pocketing, which the regular ego battery doesn't. While I still occasionally use the tank/atomizer, it leaks quite a bit and is a real juice hog. So I usually just put low-res 510 cartomizers on the battery and get a comparably good vape. 510 drip tips fit the cartos and really produce an almost ideal combination, especially if you don't want to mess with dripping. If you decide dripping is the way to go, any 510 atomizer will fit the ego-T batteries. And definitely go with the 1000 mAh batteries.

does the ego leak like the 510 does?

The Ego and the 510 are identical except for the size of the battery. They use the same carts/attys or cartomizers. Its the attys/carts or cartomizers that leak, not the 510 or the Ego

If you over fill the cartridge or cartomizer, they all will leak.

I found the tanks more trouble than they're worth, leaks, burnt taste, weak flavor. You can get them working well, but it takes a lot of fiddling. I would recommend a Boge or SmokeTech cartomizer, at least those are my personal favorites. Go for the 2Ω ones over the 3Ω ones if you want a hotter vape. The 2Ω ones are probably most popular. The dual coil cartos drive the eGo batts hard. Not good for something that fails a lot even with a standard resistance atomizer. I'm not a big fan of the eGo batts. I'd say get a nice looking tube mod that takes a cell battery. There are some nice compact ones that take a 14500 cell.

Could you provide some documentation on premature eGo batt failures?

I've yet to lose an eGo batt! I primarily use the 650s & 850s, due to physical size, and occasionally a 1000. Been using dual coil carts, 510s early on and now the Megas, for nine weeks or so. Not one hiccup. And I would be considered an heavy duty vaper.

I don't use the eGo batts but my wife does, still haven't talked her into using anything else. Though I have to say they are easy to deal with, charging is more convenient than changing out cell batts. However, in the year my wife and I have been vaping, I've had several failures and have found them to wear quickly. That's with a 3Ω cartomizer which is even less of a load on them than the standard Joye atomizers which are 2.2-2.4Ω. I've had to purchase at least a dozen eGo batts for her. I'm working on getting her off them and have developed a strong dislike for them. The failure and wear rates are just horribly high. I use a couple tube mods and a couple DIY box mods. I've had zero failures and have only had to replace cell batteries once for wear. That was recently too.

Well, that's something I'll have to watch for. Say if my batts last another three months (six total), I'll still be pleased; considering many folk are $pending more in two day$ for cig$ than I will for a six month batt. Or go with the E-Power...

I like my ego-T type B. The actual tanks themselves and the T atty really do a great job of muting flavor, i won't argue with that. But on the other hand, the kit makes a fantastic starting point. The batteries with the lockout feature are great, I wouldn't want a plastic clip that covers the button to rely on while it's in my pocket. The tanks do hold a lot of liquid which is nice for when you don't have time to fiddle with cartos and the like, while driving is a great example. The wide mouthpiece feels good too.. and despite muting flavors (some still come through well), it does produce thick clouds of vapor. Notably cooler vapor than cartos too, but the T attys are a bit fiddly. One of mine leaked out of the box, but a wick adjustment solved it.

Between the tanks and some Boge 2.0 Ohm cartos, I have a pretty good all encompassing setup. I like the tanks too for trying out new liquids without dripping, you don't get the media inside the carto soaked with a juice you don't like that's hard to get out. Just pop a new tank on and take a few drags - voila, new flavor. I have a few drip tips as well that I use for the cartos - the rubber mouthpieces that they come with tend to condense and collect the vapor which contributes to juice in your mouth. I just pop the rubber ends off and throw them away. The drip tip also makes refilling a breeze.

The regular 650 batteries that come with the kit last me almost all day with the LRs and they'll recharge in about 2 hours plugged into the USB port on my desktop pc. Everyone I know with a regular 510 is jealous of my setup.. makes the regular 510s seem weak. I've had my ego almost 2 months now and the batteries still perform as if they were new. I just ordered a 900mAH battery two days ago to experiment with, hopefully it isn't too huge. The 650s are a good balance of portability and longevity, imo. Oh, and the different size batteries will all perform the exact same way - the larger ones will just have a longer and more consistent run time.

I'm happy with my setup for now, doesn't make me itch for a mod or anything quite yet. The whole 510 platform is pretty expansive so you have a lot of options. I chose the T mainly because you get the T stuff for cheaper buying it as a kit, and the lockout on the batteries was a huge selling point too.

HTH.

After trying pretty much every ego setup available, my personal favorite is the ego w/ an LR 306 atty for dripping b/c you get the best flavor out of the juice and nice warm thick vapor. The tank is ok, but mutes the flavor way too much, so I don't use it anymore.

Just remember no dripping and driving! If driving while vaping is an issue, trust me 2.0ohms LR soft cap boge cartos are great! Pop off the cap, drip about 25-30 drops while turning it to even out the drops and let it soak and settle, then pop on a drip tip and it's smooth sailin' after that!

Great point, so true! Cartos are great for driving :)...dripping is great when you're the passenger, lol (or at home of course).

I got an ego-t type a 2 weeks ago today. I fell in love, but today...I have fallen out of love with it! I am so aggravated. Total loss of flavor for me. Hubby can take a puff off of it and he can taste the flavor, I cant. I have a burning sensation in my throat and mouth. Thankfully, I purchased some clearomizers last week and so I am using them on my ego battery. I have the 900 mah battery and I am a heavy vaper. It lasts me all day and a few hours the next. I am now looking for a new pv!!!

I've been vaping an eGo-T all day. For one I love the width of the mouthpiece (reminds me of a kid's sippy cup). Two, the type b tank holds more liquid than the type a. Three, I haven't had any bad tastes (burnt) and as a newbie it seems that the tank is easier to fit properly (into the atomizer). I'm also digging the Go-Go, their cartos last forever so you have to like the juice you spill in. I also find that the Go-Go gives me more TH and vapor. It's pretty much priced the same as an eGo.
