Hey guys. I've been reading these forums for months but this is my first post. So hello!

I'm having a problem with my ego VV. I purchased it a few days ago. At first it was working fine, I'm using it mostly on pass through. But now if I crank it up past the lowest setting I can get 1-5 vapes on it then it kicks back down to the lowest setting. I can immediately pump it back up but it keeps kicking down.

So after this happening a few times I plugged it into my usb 510 charger and charged it for 2 hours and it's still doing it. Hopefully you guys can give me some advice!

One other question. Does having the batt on pass through charge it when not in use?

Thanks guys!

If you're talking about the batteries I think you are, it's a problem with the switch.

I have the same issue with one of the two that I bought. Mine actually turns off while the buttons depressed. Then on the next press it will come on, but to the lowest setting.

Is it the kind you push the button 5 times to change the voltage?

Mine aren't passthru's but I'd bet they're the same thing otherwise. They're not genuine Ego's and they don't work all that well. The voltage settings seem to depend a lot on how fully the batteries are charged. I notice it gets harder to draw, even on the highest setting, if the charge falls below 1/2.

I've also got an issue where the top of one will turn slightly locking the switch in the on position when I try to tighten or remove the cone.

I've written these 2 batts off as "live and learn" cheapo knockoffs. I'll keep them around for emergency backup, but they're no longer my main batterys.

Lava tube is awesome try it you so t be dissapointed

I second that! Mine has yet to have steered me wrong with the exception of a couple of nuances. Will be ordering a Provari hopefully soon! As far as your Ego VV, Im not too sure about those but I believe they only work while plugged into the USB. What do you have the USB plugged into that is providing the power?

Yeah mine is the 5 clicks one. Thanks for the info I'll keep an eye on the button. It's my first foray into VV. I was thinking about picking up a lava tube next but if any one has any recommendations I'm all ears. I love vaping and I love this community so any advice would be great.

Yeah they were my first step into experimenting with VV as well. It's all part of the growing pains.

Personally I'm waiting on the new Smoktech Volt Max to become available from US sellers. Prior to hearing about that, I was kind of torn between the Provari and the Darwin.

If those types are out of your budget range, then I'd definitely be looking into the Lava Tube. It seems to have a very strong and loyal following.

That's an interesting point. I don't have any problems with the prices, so if that's the case is it better just to grab a high end PV? I.e is a $150 provari worth almost 5 times the cost of a lava tube?

This forum is great! You guys are so fast on the responses!

It all comes down to personal taste and what end result you are looking to achieve.

For example, I can't speak for all VV mods, but the lavatube is regulated to not exceed 2.5A. If you try to pull more current it will automatically "downgrade" the voltage. The Provari is set to not exceed 3.5A. This means that even though both are capable of about 3v-6v, your atomizer/cartomizer plays a big role. For example, using a Dual Coil Cartomizer @ 1.5 OHMS, the lava tube will max out around 3.75V. A Provari will max out around 5.25V (It actually cuts off around 4.8V).

So in this regard, the more costly VV Mods are going to out perform the Lava Tube. However, this doesn't make the Lava Tube a bad unit. If you don't see yourself ever using this combination @ that voltage, no loss.

Like I said, it all depends on the flexibility and extra features you are looking for in your mod. I'd suggest figuring out what you really want it to do, and then cross reference with mods out there. It is worth taking your time and getting it right. No one can really tell you if the more expensive mods are worth it, as that is completely subjective. There are lots of good folks here who can also help you narrow down your options if you give a list of must have's in a mod, wants, etc.

Exactly. I don't mind so much blowing $24 on a cheapo learning experience battery just to get an idea what kind of difference a higher voltage might make. But before taking the big plunge on my ultimate power source, I'm gonna do my homework and make sure I don't blow a fortune on some mistake.

I'm kind of set on a Provari mostly because I don't like the side protrusion connector on the Darwin. It would be fine if I only used carts, but I can't see it working well with tanks. And to me having the main connector rotate like that is just asking for leakage or connectivity issues.

Who's Idea was it to have the juice source directly over the controls? LOL
Though I understand they sealed up the controls better.

I do like the electronic features of the Darwin better, but that connector is a deal breaker for me.

But then I started hearing about the Smoktech Volt Max coming out in a week or two, which sent me back to researching. It sounds pretty hot.
