Ekowool....any good?

I actually have a bunch of this stuff on hand from several months ago, just have not used it.

Anyone try it?
Did you boil it first?
Any weird taste?

It looks pretty beefy (I have 2mm) and seems like it would wick very well.

Asking because I am out of my regular ghetto silica wick and wire. Yes I know about cotton but haven't gotten around to trying that yet. A bit hesitant to try cotton actually.

It will be used with my ghetto setup which is a Vamo with Vivi Nova tank. Gets the job done for me

My use of ekowool is limited, I just picked some up yesterday. My coil building skills aren't the best, but I have managed to get about 4 coils going, all at about 1.9 ohms on the nose each time.

Anyway, I didn't boil it, and there's no funny taste that I can tell. Supertaster I am not. They do seem to perform pretty well, although I really can't tell if the flavor is muted or not.

Does it work? Yeah. Work well? I don't know, I haven't built any coils with silica as of yet, so.... It does wick pretty good, and holds the juice in my dripper well, though.

I also have that wool and never used it yet,i use SS cable in my Kraken tank.

I've used an ekowool sleeve over mesh for my RSST in the past. I finally stopped using it as I didn't find much of a difference between straight mesh or the ekowool sleeve.

I hate mesh wicks,to flimsy and it dont wick near as good as cable.

I use ecowool to replace the flavor wicks on my protanks, also use it to rewick all of my RDA's. Wicks way better then silica. Enjoy.

been using ekowool for the past 6 months and i have never boiled it and yes, i love my wool, i will never go back to silica wicks.

Ekowool is silaca,its not really wool,its just bradied.

correct, its a different type of silica material
