I wanna try out some ekowool and Im wrapping 28 gauge kanthal on a 16 gauge Luer Lock needle. What size should I get 1mm or 2mm?
Am I better off getting 1mm and doubling over if needed? I would like to just get the size that would fit best with out needing to double over if possible.Dont want to order some till I know and waste money if I get wrong size and too much of it.

Get 1mm ekowool, it is thicker than the 1mm silica wick, I believe they measure the ID of the ekowool not the OD. I can get 1mm Ekowool into a 1/16 ID micro coil, 2mm is as thick as the coil.

This is the DarkZero jig with the .055" dowel

From the top down:
3mm ekowool
2mm ekowool
1mm ekowool
1mm silica wick

How long does a wick normally last you FB?

Torch the area you intend to cut before you cut it. That will prevent fraying. Just get it white hot and hold it about 5 seconds and you're good.
To clean, torch again. It'll turn white. Dry burn the coils and blow/brush the carbon buildup and you're set to go again.
Doing this, your setup can last months. It won't. But it can.
It won't because you'll get itchy to build again and rip it apart.

I wanna try the ekowool to compare it to my cotton wicks.I have tendency to burn the cotton when Im busy with my kids.Changing out wick isnt a hard at this point but if I can go longer with the ekowool that would be great :)

Plus I have been using a Hornet RBA on my Grand and love being able to have the longer wick so if I can combine that with life of my wick that would be sweet !
