What if the ID/OD don't match perfectly? Is that asking for problems?

It might provoke the same problems as with any other material was underwicked if the rope is to small compared to the ID of the coil. If the rope is to much larger than the ID of the coil you simply will never get it in there as in my experience Ekowool won't compress much (if at all).

My favorite uses for it are old V1 STM rba's, Lemo2's and just about anything that has those 1/2 moon notches for juice channels. (I have a few TFV4 RBA's that I use rope with) I just size the rope to fill the juice channel and then size the ID of my coil to match the rope. Easy peasy.

I like taking a few hits every so often (could be 5min or 1/2 hour) so I generally don't over vape my silica wicking.

I've ran everything from %100VG to %33VG/%66H2O with silica rope wick (often times with Ekowool).

here is 3 or 4 inches of ekowool in an rsst
    DSC02419.JPG

    3mm hollow ekowool
    3mm wick hole
.054 needle to hold it straight
wrap to preference starting at negative screw
    DSC02420.JPG

top leg eliminated (withdraw the pin a little)
    DSC02421.JPG

    juice up and vape
    DSC01780.JPG

in about a week i will detach the coil and pull wick/coil up about a half inch with tweezers and cut it off. then reinsert the pin and wrap fresh coil on fresh wick. when the wick gets too dark the taste drops off.

    no torching
    no pulsing
    no dry burning

Wow, great post. I have a couple Rocket Science mods with an upper deck and I only use ss mesh with it. I see now how to use my Eko-Wool with these devices. Very slick! Thanks for this.

Well, it lasts longer than cotton as the fiber is a more course making bigger flow channels But, I should say that I only do NET natural extractions so my juices do gunk up coils faster than the artificial flavors. Consequently, I re-wick every 2-3 days anyway.

    Thanks, BoilerGuy!

I like the convenience of that setup homeuser6. Couple questions; looks like a fairly thin coil wire, about how many ohms resistance and about how many ml of juice a week? Also, was that originally a dual screen wicked tank? Appearance Is similar to a hybrid mod/tank I have.

since flight sim did not have a camera ,i took the liberty to illustrate what he wrote.
    DSC02422.JPG

wire on this rsst is only 32 gage and does not take pulling through well. i expect 28 gage could handle it, but i don't like the mass. (ramp up - cool down)

2 ohms is my target and 4 wraps on this combination hits it every time.
the deck is stock rsst with the fill plug thrown away.
the cap is somewhat modified with a chamber reducer and some extra 1 mm holes.(typical rsst modifications)

i chain vape all day and consume about 3ml per day.
that makes me a tootle puffer, but these gennies can be set up all different ways to suit the user.

Ekowool isn't the same thing as rayon.

I'm well aware of that. I was offering a cheaper alternative to Ekowool.

There's no reason to mislead new vapers into thinking they need this or that. It's all a sales pitch to make the B&M more money.
I work really hard for my money and spend it wisely.

They're nowhere similar though so if someone is looking for ekowool rayon isn't a proper substitute. I agree on there being lots of unnecessary "made for vaping" wicking materials out there when rayon or organic cotton pads bought from other than vape shops works as well or better.

I'm into saving money to. While I personally don't see any difference between "Ekowool" (basically silica rope stuffed with cotton) and plain old silica rope there is indeed a world of difference between silica rope and rayon.

    On way to hospital.....

While playing in traffic or the lack thereof...I got tired! So I laid down on the side of the road...just about the time I dozed off...the mail man ran over me.

I should be OK...I only have tire tracks on one side of my face, the road rash kinda stings though :(
