Glad to know this isnt just me. I have had mine for 6 weeks and its been perfect up until this past week and has increasingly got so bad as of yesterday that it wont even turn off now each time I try and there is nothing worse than sucking air when you think yo are inhaling and nothing comes in.

6 weeks this has lasted and i have 3 full set ups so I dont use it all the time----sighs, I am starting to think that cheap $30 devices using 18650 batteries every 3 months or so are the only way to go......

Mine finally died today.
Bought it Feb 26th but I havent used it much as I have 2 other mods I use more frequently.
One of my fav clones bit the dust one week ago and i began to use the iStick again 1/2 the time as i have a Siegeli 100w+ as well but 2 days ago it started, the mis firing and by last night, going to bed it was starting to get worse.
2x I tried to turn if off to no avail and it finally did but come moroning it was not creeping up to 3x out of 5 and it wasn't grabbing the juice much at all until it just sort of stopped working 9 out of 10x ;9

So have another one thats been used for about a week and so far in perfect condition.

Any hints on what to do with it so it doesnt start this firing problemas well?

Waiting for the Kangor bx to arrive and its on to mech mods next-think they will have less issues if treated well

I have a second one and not positive it isnt slowly happening on this one as well---perhaps the store i bought them from as i bought them together got a bad batch OR from what i read this is far more common then it appears people are aware...

i would not buy another one and this one has made me realize i am fed up of spending goodmoney on these crappy devices.
I am going to go mechanical from here on in and only either buy the very best such as the greek fellows stuff we read about on this forum all the time and/or buy the odd cheap one from FT.
I just picked up a little Kanger one, not as good as the iStick 50w, a 40w version, lighter than this istick but it takes 18650 batteries and at $30 i dont mind as much if it does break

I have a bunch of the 50's...they all have finicky fire buttons, but they all work fine, you just have to get used to the amount of pressure to put on the button...pretty sure this is normal behavior.

Apparently not.

I'd only had mine just over a month but as I have a few other sets I hadnt used it much and it started up just a few days ago.
I would get hits, one out of 10 that were all air.
And then 3 and then over night it was 1/2 and within 36 hours it just wasnt working.

At first I thought it was me, not pressing it correctly but it got worse verey quickly and then just died yesterday.
I have another one I used a bit and started it up again yesterday and I can feel a bit of it again in this one.
Theres a thread here, on this forum I think, talking about it and its happening to quite a few..

Heres the post of some fellow that fixes them:

I've had several of these on the bench with the same button issue. The issue was resolved with a spacer or shim under the board about the switch position. It almost seems like there is some flex to the board after it's been used for awhile. The shim stiffens the board and allows the switch to operate normally. The shim should not be a conductive material and you should not consider the repairs unless you are quite comfortable working with electronics at the board level. If the device is under warranty then get an RMA. This repair will void an existing warranty!

I was fortunate as i took it back to the store figurig he could fix it but he had a very lightly used one and gave it to me instead as he was out of them. I woudlnt have taken it from just anyone as I am very careful with my batteries and know many arent but it had only been used 3x as I spoke with the guy it belonged to so that one so far seems to be ok but it didnt start happening to me unil the 6th week mark....

I've had the 50w for about 2 weeks now. Initially I would run into the "stops firing before I'm done vaping" issue. I quickly learned that as I vaped I would ever so lightly release pressure on the fire button. Once I figured out to stop doing that, haven't had the problem since unless i'm trying to reproduce it.

Good luck!

Well, if we are talking about the stopping firing issue when not applying enough pressure...I have four of the 50's, and they have all done this, and behave exactly the same...right out of the box. Not saying they should be that way, but all the ones I have used have done this...they work fine as long as I leave constant pressure on the button, and none of them have gotten worse with use over time.

LOL
I have strong hands.
Trust me, I know how to press them down properly :)

No, thats not it.

As one is vaping, no mattr HOW HARD you press, all of a sudden there will be no juice, air only........once in a while.
But then it began to happen more and more over a few days until one day, it seemed to happen almost one in 5x

Up until that point, having it happen once in a while i didnt give it any thought and also first questioned if I had been not pressing it hard enough as well and accepted that must have been what i was doing.
But because I have the Delta II tank on mine, it almost felt as if does if you open up the air on the tank fully so I then thought it was the Delta...

Understand at first for a bit in time it happened infrequently enough that you dont give it much thought until later.
So one day this week it started happening 2 out of 3x and I was starting to get ...... off with it.

Went to bed that night as i always do and i turn them all off at night. I never charge over night and this one I took with me and when I went to turn it off, it wouldnt go off.....I was half asleep and again, you sort of wonder whats going on and blame it on yourself.

The next morning when I went to turn it on thehn it began to happen 1 out of every 2 hits and by now i knew it wasnt me......and within 2 hours it was down to happening all most every time so I took it back.

I was given a new one which I gave to my husband and i took his, the one hes been using periodically that i purchased the same day as i did the one I took back and i can feel it occassionally happening on this one.
Had it not happened to the first one, this one too i would just think I wasnt pressing hard enough here or there.

I am prepared for the possibility that this one might go as well, yet we have 2 iStick 20w that neither have had a problem with but I keep hearing from others as well its only on the 50w version.

I dont believe its a high majority of them but its out there and i am not the only one this is happening to..

EDIT:

Let me add that i am a heavy Vaper as I work at home and am not restricted to work enviorments but i have 3 great sets and the one i took back was not even my fav set up.....so it wasnt used daily or a lot but a few days before it went, I purchased a new one from FT, another brand, and my fav set up which was not the iStick was retired.
So 3-4 days before this issue came to a head, I started to use the iStick again otherwise i believe i would have noticed it much sooner than the 6 week mark

Yeah, well if it is a situation that is getting progressively worse, then it is not normal...what I have seen from the iStick 50, in both the first batch versions and the current version, is just a button that can be finicky without constant pressure when firing, and this is brand new out of the box. I think it has to do with both the rounded button and also whatever they did to fix the button rattle on the later 30's and the 50's...

If people never complained about button rattle we would have a clicky button. Instead they tried to fix the rattle and made a crappy sticky iStick 50 watt. I loved my 20 watt fire button (clicky and responsive unlike the 50 watt version) I hate the 50 watt iStick. It sometimes fires on it's own. One time I was cleaning my home and found my 50 watt iStick firing by itself, In my pocket, and the tank was like a 100 degrees. But i still use it sometimes.

Is anyone experiencing problems with the fire button on the new 50W istick. I have found I must put a fair amount of pressure on the button or it will not Fire. I also have had it stop firing. It may be that I am not used to the new design yet but I don't have any issues with my 20w.
I'm having the exact same issues with mine. I'm glad it's not just me. I wonder if I should bring it back...I've had it for less than a month now

If you can return it I certainly would. Mine did the exact same thing but I never have mentioned that because I was preoccupied with the more dangerous problems with it. My fire button started sticking and firing to 10s. Soon it started automatically firing. I mean just sitting on the table with nothing touching the button. Mine worked for 35 days. You can find my thread named" I THINK WE NEED TO STOP RECOMMENDING THE ISTICK 50 TO NEWBIES" . And to make matters worse Eleaf- ISmoka weaseled their way out of their warranty

They changed it because of the rattle sounds. I like the 20 watt firing switch allot better just like you.

If you buy a silicone cover it will help with the button, has helped me. I use my istick in bed at night with Vaporboost sleep booster in an rba dripper Link The button is softer and not so tough to fire
