Bike, the very first one I made I used 10 wraps, since I wanted it to be as close as possible to the 1.5 ohms I was used to. It came out pretty close. But 10 wraps was a little tight, so I've went to 8 or 9 wraps and ended up with 1.1 ohm to 1.3 ohm coils, which work great. I can't wrap less, because I'd end up under 1 ohm and my MVP's won't work with them. Which is why Katya's post is a great solution:

Katya, I've been meaning to get some 29 gauge for a couple of months now. But it doesn't seem to be a gauge everyone has. Every time I order something, I check the vendor to see, and it seems like they have everything BUT. But eventually, I'll try out the 29.

Try TEMCo, the best there is and cheap to boot!

Most ECF rebuilders get their kanthal wire from either Lightning Vapes or directly from Temco. When I first started rebuilding, I bought small samples from various e-cig vendors but their markup is ridiculous.

You can get a small spool (25 or 50 ft) for a couple of bucks shipped.

Or you can get it directly from Temco (or from Amazon)--look for free shipping.

7 wraps of 28 gauge Kanthal on a 16 gauge needle gives me anywhere from 1.0-1.3 ohms. I don't know how but it does.
Awesome - 28 gauge is what I have, already. And we had a coil changing festival yesterday (whether we needed to or not!) and we now have TEN coils waiting to be rebuilt. YAY. I'm trying to get Mr Nanny to watch Cheech's video. Is it bad if I lie and tell him there is a pretty girl at the end??

 if you had told me back in January, that this would become my life....

Grrr. I've gotta find a better system for getting the tops off these air coils.... They're easier the second time around, yes?

Would you like me to add one? :)

Thanks, Alden (and also Katya). I didn't realize Temco offered free shipping or I would have ordered before this.

It's a mystery, isn't it. Happens to me all the time. Sometimes the coil with 1 more wrap has less resistance, no matter how careful I am. :D

Agreed Linda! And I've also taken a coil that came out at 1.5 and got it to come in at 1.3 just by heating the coil and taking my tweezers and squishing them together a bit.

 I don't think anyone wants to see that, especially Mr. Nanny!

But you're headed for winter in Bs. As. and in this little corner of the vapeverse, lanyard, as used by certain maleducados, has become a euphemism for, shall we say, ciertos encantos... Nonetheless, they are certainly useful. :|
Such as these?

I don't like the annealed version Temco has, I prefer using the regular Lightning Vapes has. I buy 100 foot spools, it always has something to be used on. But my preferred wire is 28. Less wraps-

What is the difference between the annealed and not?
