Quick explanation of possible reason for 'not found'.
1) Most carrier mgmt. systems/shipping software used by vendors/retailers, "shippers" send shipment data to USPS when an order is processed and a shipping label is created. For the retailer, the item is now "shipped", and they send an e-mail to you saying so. But....it hasn't left the vendor's premises yet, hasn't been physically tendered to the carrier (UPS, USPS, Fedex etc). Some software sends the "shipped" data in real time, when the shipping label prints; some send it in a batch. Regardless of periodicity, shipped doesn't mean physically shipped, hence the time lag between the e-mail I just got from a vendor and visibility in the carrier's database. You are likely in that time lapse between logical and physical shipment.
2) USPS may not yet have scanned the item, even if the parcel has been physically tendered to them. This will have no effect on time in transit...you will probably still get it on Mon. or Tuesday if it's Priority Mail, and you have burned incense and prayed to Janus, Thor, or the gods of small package delivery.

Now then, aren't you sorry you asked? OH! You didn't ask? Hmmmmm...... have to debug that vape rant code. Again.

That's exactly what happens. When I sell a part on ebay and create a shipping label, it posts immediately with a tracking number the customer can view even before I print the label out. Then after I physically give the package to USPS it may be 2 days before it shows up as accepted and will show "shipping label created" until then, even though it may already be halfway across the country. It seems to have gotten worse since January.

I Gran!!! Great explanation of how USPS tracking works. I ordered some drip tips back in February. Got the email with "your order has been shipped" with the tracking number. So I checked it, not found. Waited 2 days. Checked it again, not found. The next day I checked it and the package was out for delivery. Hmmm...I thought it was still in Hawaii!
