Has anyone used an Eleaf iStick 40W or a similar device with a nautilus Mini or Triton using 1.8 Ohm coils? How was the vape?

I am thinking of picking up an Eleaf iStick 40W and according to what I've found, the 1.8 BVC coils are rated for 7-12 watts ( Aspire BVC Coil Specifications - Aspire FAQ Discussions on Aspire Forums ). The Clapton 1.8 coils are rated for 13-16 watts. Am I reading that right and is this info still current?

I like that the iStick 40W has a battery capacity of 2600mAh. Vaping at a low wattage, I'm thinking it should last me quite awhile in between charges.

I may be overthinking this again, lol. But wanted to run it by the experts here on the forum and get your opinions and feedback. Thanks in advance.

The N mini is legendary and is typically paired with an iStick 20 or 40. Your watts estimates are about right. I got a brother of mine started on the same setup at Christmas 2014. He's still using it and doesn't want to change a thing.

Thanks a lot sofarsogood. Sounds like your brother really likes the setup.
It got him off smoking and is keeping him off. I was worried for a while. He was a dual user for 10 months but FINALLY stopped smoking. The N mini does what it's supposed to do very well. I used one to get started. I can't advise you about other tanks because after the N mini I went exclusively to dripping.

One of my setups I use daily is my istick 40w with a nautilus mini and a 1.8 coil on 9 watts.

I use a nautilus mini with my Kanger Kbox 40. The wattage can't be fine tuned on this model, it goes up in increments, starting at 8, then 13, then the big jump to 20, and after that 5w increments up to 40.

I find the nautilus mini seems a bit underpowered at 8w. At 13w it's pretty good, but it can handle 20w, at least in short bursts. I never use the 20w setting for long because I find it to be a bit overwhelming, so I stick to 13w 90% of the time. This is also with the 1.8ohm coil. Not sure what the difference would be between the 1.6 and 1.8 ohm coils.

I can't speak much for their longevity, though, because I haven't had it for long. I've had it for just over a week and I haven't changed the coil yet, though I don't use it exclusively. I also use a Mini Protank 3 for my smoothol juice, and the Nautilus gets Space Jam Eclipse (which could also be a good sign, as juices like that are known coil wreckers). And I've abused it with 20w bursts occasionally. I guess now thinking it over a bit I would say they live pretty long lives, all things considered. Not a bad investment.

Thanks Bonskibon. It's really great to hear from someone using this actual setup. When I get my iStick 40W I am going to try what you suggested: istick 40w with a nautilus mini and a 1.8 coil on 9 watts

Does it last you for awhile between charges?

Downgraded286: Thank you too and I really appreciate your feedback. Too bad the wattage can't be fine tuned on the Kanger Kbox 40 but it sounds like it is doing the job for you. I've always used the 1.8 coils as opposed to the 1.6, so will probably stick with the 1.8. I have definitely decided to invest in an iStick 40W.

I've also used this setup. I tend to use my Nautilus's at 8-10W with the air holes wide open. Currently I have a Kanger 'Top tank Mini' clone mounted with a 1.4 ohm coil built on its RBA head.

I find that single battery mods (like the iStick 40) will last me 8-10hrs of vaping - not quite a whole day. Of course YMMV depending on how you vape.

The Nautilus mini works well with the iStick as the combo is easily pocketable and unless the temperature of it changes radically, it does not leak in your pocket. (a show stopper for me)

I like the setup so well that I've restocked my iStick20+Nautilus mini CLONES for give a way setups to friends trying to quit smoking.

Thanks George. Leaking in my pocket would be a show stopper too. Even 8-10 hours of vaping would be great when I am out and about. Sounds like this setup is going to work well for me too, and I have a couple iStick 40's on the way. With all that's going on right now (FDA, etc.), having an extra is probably a good idea.

Nice of you to help your friends quit smoking and to provide them with a way to do it. :)

    I really appreciate the response.

Been using my istick 40 for around 6-8 months now(ferget exactly)

It was my first temp. control device.
Used exclusively in tc mode so it runs at 40 watts all the time.(full power)

It's still going strong and I use it daily in rotation with 1 or 2 other set-ups. It gets recharged every second day normally. It's size makes me wanna grab it if I'm heading out for a while as opposed to the larger devices I have to choose from.

I will say I found the 1 amp wall wart that came with it seemed to get pretty hot while charging.
I asked about that on ECF and a member suggested I use a phone charger, wall wart actually not charger. A 5v 2amp wall wart worked and created less heat while charging.
Just somethin' to be conscious of if you notice excessive heat at the wall wart or the battery itself while charging.

Enjoy your new sticks they are very good value devices. Cheers.

Another big fan of Nautilus Minis and iSticks chiming in! I started vaping last October and the first "good" tank I bought was a Mini with an iStick 30w. I still have it and think it's brilliant for flavour. I vape my Mini at 8 watts with the airflow on maximum.

I liked iSticks so much I built up to a seven day set of them - 3 x 30w and 4 x 40w. With me the 30s last about a day and a half whereas the 40s on the same setting last one day. I do also have three K Boxes - - the 40w model. A fully charged battery in a K Box with me runs a day and a half.

Usually I use the 1.8 ohm coils; but when these were unobtainable in Spain over the winter I used the 1.8 Triton Mini coils which were claptons. These to my mind ran hot at the usual settings and used batteries up faster. Their flavour was however good.

As I write I am using the 1.6 Nautilus coils as the local shop was out of the 1.8s - frankly I cannot detect much of a difference in either flavour vapour production or battery life.

As to coil life I'm getting around 10 days with all of the different coils I have used in my Nautilus Mini.

For flavour I personally don't think the Nautilus Mini can be beaten - but that's only a personal opinion.

I also use GS Air Tanks with iSticks and again IMHO they cannot be beaten for coil life - the 0.75 ohm coils with me are going on average 8 weeks per coil.
