True, the chip "brain" inside would cut off the vape if the W or A limit *of the chip* was exceeded...problems come in when the batteries have a lower CDR than the chip's amp limit. Example: if you build a regulated mod with a dna board, YiHi chip, etc, the chips all have limits of how much can be run thru em (amp limit, wattage cutoff, etc) -- but those limits are preset into the chip itself, they won't change to fit the safe continuous discharge rating of whatever 18650s you put into the mod. You could run a mod with dna 200 chip and put 5 amp ***Fire cells in it, and the chip wouldn't know the difference until the whole thing died a fiery death.
I like the istick series, don't get me wrong... I bought the 50w for my dad, that says a lot, but I did that lil upgrade too.... So even though I personally like them, I don't recommend em to most people because of this issue
