It had a short circuit in my car plug-in cigarette lighter usb charger and blew the 2amp fuse + my head deck. Is it worth repairing or do I just cut my losses and buy a new one?
I'd listen to CampbellMC on this one, if you can't fix it yourself or have a friend who knows their way around a soldering iron and a multimeter (and even then if it took out a chip you could be SOL) a fix would probably be more than the cost of a new one. Sorry mate.
heh,, it blew the 30Amp fuse that controls head deck + cigarette lighter in my car. I changed that today & sound system is going good! I was thinking it would have ruined my amps or something. So $1-70 at the servo & the car is fixed.
The Power Supply Regulator? IC most likely has had the .... ,, cos when I opened up the istick all the solder joints were fine. Ended up just getting a 20watt Vamo to replace it.. Was wondering if the IC's are even available if i was gonna rebuild it? may just keep it for spare parts even.

Not that I've seen on the places that'd have them, at least not labeled as from them -- but it wouldn't surprise me if they aren't exactly designing their chipsets and having them fabbed. Before you even got there you'd want to break it down with a multimeter and check all the caps/circuitry seeing if you could find it. It may be there's a fuse on the mainboard that's gone and just needs to have a new one resoldered in, or you could have really friend some chips and digging for those won't be fun. If none of this makes entire sense to you you're probably better off letting it go.

Yeah my boss had a go at it today with a soldering iron and I left it with him to check it out with a multi-meter when work gets a little quieter. We make electronic firing systems for fireworks & do outdoor and indoor fireworks displays so the electronics side isn't too much of a hassle, i'm just thinking it would be a little tricky finding replacement parts for e-cigs.. it might be an idea to dismantle an old cheap spinner or 2 and see if the charging components can be used .. & could end up with a frankenstein istick put together with parts from all different kinds of e-cigs .. haha ..
