I was thinking of upgrading to a pico but with a Nautilus Mini instead of the Melo 3 as I am a MTL vaper really didn't want to go subohm. After reading this thread, I'm thinking maybe go with the kit, which is nicely priced right now, and trying the Melo 3 with a 1.8 ohm coil. If I don't like that I can always buy a mini down the road.

Here's my real newbie question. How do you figure out what other coils will fit the tank other than the Melo coils? I tried searching for Melo compatible replacement coils, but only get the original Melo to pop up. I guess the same question would apply to the mini. Can I use anything other than Aspire coils and again, how do you know what fits?

I believe any Atlantis/Triton/Melo coils are compatible plus some others that I'm not aware of. The 1.8 ohm coils I ordered are Triton coils.

As far as the Nautilus Mini is concerned, you can use Triton Mini coils on it. I'm not aware of any others as not many other tanks use those small coils.

IMO there's generally very little difference in flavor across any of the Atlantis-compatible tanks (I have 8 different models). The Melo 3 i just as good as any of them. However, the Eleaf heads I've used in the past have tended to be subpar. I generally use 0.4ohm Triton coils (SS), but for the Melo 3 I went with a kanthal Vaporesso cCell coil since those work best at a lower wattage which means filling that tiny tank a little less often (not that much less).

Flavor from the cCell has been excellent.
How did the ccell fit? Was there any leaking? Im looking at the melo 3 mini that comes with the mod. My Atlantis is easy better with a ccell in it. I had it up for sale then decided to try the ccell in it, took it Down and kept it.

Anyone try the Ccells?

I'm using the .9 kanthal cCell from vaporesso in my melo 3. Flavor is great interesting thing about this tank with the airflow closed to its lowest setting this is an awesome MTL tank. Smooth quiet and just the right restriction for a pleasurable MTL experience. I haven't found a tank that could do this well since my nautilus days.

I think the Melo III (at least the Mini version) tanks flavour was medicore, not only this it leaked when attached to the Pico whilst charging because the mod transfered heat to the tank and became very hot even at suitable wattage when vaping on stock coils. I tried 0.3ohm, 0.5ohm coils then had to remove it from my life. The Pico mod itself is excellent, with a simple tank change you can achieve excellent results, sub-ohm or M2L.

For anyone who likes the tank that's fine, enjoy it, it wasn't a very good expereince for me.

I'd never charge my nod with my tank on it but that's just me.

Anyway, my Melo III has never leaked and it works fine. There are a lot of coil choices for it as well as the Triton and Atlantis coils also work on it.

I agree about lack of flavor, that's why I started this thread. I like small tanks that can take pre-built coils as well as making my own coils on an RBA. Both the RBA's for the Melo 3, and Cubis tanks are not very well made and use "wire capture" held by rubber grommet compression which is the cheap way, and not a great contact especially when one does mostly temperature control.

I just ordered the new Eleaf "Leche" tank. I hoped they would use the Cubis coils, but looking on the net they may be different, the tank comes with the new notch coils, other types may come later. No matter as I'm more interested in the RBA as it looks like the kind that Kanger uses in their SubTank Mini's, with a real TWO POST screw downs, these have worked well for me on my STM's, so we'll see.

Eleaf Lyche NotchCoil RBA Sub-ohm Tank

The day may be coming where we won't be able to buy pre-built coils, so having a few good RBA's, may be smart! Or a real good RTA, I just can't decide which one to buy, as there are more opinions then the tons of choices. The new Kayfun K5 looks nice, but is quite tall, as well as expensive for the original.

I went for the original, my first Kayfun, the new V5. Since it's a true RTA, it's not fair to compare flavors to all my other mini tanks that only use prebuilt coils and custom RBA's, but other then dripping, yet close, it's always good to know what your juices really taste like. I make the choice to sacrifice some flavor in my mini tanks, only as they are smaller and more portable.

The Eleaf RBA head for the Melo tanks isn't very good. I've got an Aspire RBA head on the way to see how that works. I've been happy with the standard eleaf coils in all three varieties although the Titanium don't seem to last as long as the other two. However, I do have a package of Ccell coils and a package of Triton Clapton coils on the way to see what they are like. Figure with all these new regulations coming along, it was a good time to stock up and see what I like more.

You could also try the AnyVape RBA, got a couple at a local BeyondVape store, but Google shows:

I got my melo 3 mini/pico today and really love the look and feel, the mini tank is really nice but small tho. but i was loving it with the .3 coil until about 10ml/4 hrs into it my coils were fried. im pretty ...... but i will see what the second coil (.5) does. my plan is to rebuild the heads (MELO REBUILD TUTORIAL= ) or buy an rta head but ... if the coils are only going to last a few hours forget it. Can anyone else comment on the longevity of these heads? What metal will give me the most longevity? Also several rta heads are mentioned here but can someone whos tried them say which is best?

Not sure what you mean by fried? If you vaped 30ml already, that means you obviously prepped the coils cotton properly. So do you mean dry hits, or just decreased vapor production? Is your juice really dark, gunking up the coils? I really only use the Eleaf .5 ohm titanium coils in my Mello as I mostly run in TC mode. I run 30/70 & 20/80 pg/vg and the juice feeds well, though I'm not a chain vaper. For the most part these coils are ok, but the one I'm using now was a problem early on, high ohms, cracklings, it was odd. Didn't want to throw it away, so I took it out, pulled the 510 pin out, put it back, reprepped the coil with juice again, and it seems to be working better, ohms now proper as well. Point being, the prebuilt coils can vary from one to another, some just suck. But a good one should give you a lot more vape time then 30ml. of juice!

The Mello is not one of my favorite tanks so I put them away for awhile. Just recently giving them another chance as I'm tired of my Cubis tanks flooding. None of these tiny tanks have the flavor of my Merlin, or Kayfun 5, but for certain pocket carry mods, like my new Target Mini, a small tank is called for at the expense of flavor.

As far as the available RBA's, I collected all 3 types, to use when and if the FDA ban makes getting prebuilts hard to buy. So I can't say I've used them yet. The Eleaf one seems the worse build wise. They are cheap, so if you find you like the Mello, try all three. Wish I could be more helpful.

I don't know, I must be doing something wrong. I had the same problem with my Cleito heads then switched to the RTA. Went through 6 cleito heads, except for one they all lasted about a day. The other one lasted a week & a half. Wasn't doing anything different that I could see. I am only making super simple mostly clear juices now, with no added sweetener.

So what is the difference in taste from a dry hit and burnt coils? I've had hits that are burnt metal tasting, so I suck some more juice in and maybe put a few drops down the chimney and it seems to go away for a little while. But then I get massive burnt fumes all of a sudden that burn the hell out of my throat, I wait a bit til they cool and add juice etc but it doesnt go away so I figure they are burnt. When I look in they are black.

Have you tried tearing one apart? If the cotton is black then that's what's burning. If you don't get enough juice in the cotton before you take the first hit and the cotton burns, then that Atty is toast, and will never taste right. The titanium coil I described above seemed to have been wound too tight in the factory, and the cotton was not absorbing the liquid as it should. In most cases you are better off using RBA's, as you make them, the way you want. Burnt metal taste is a dry hit, not enough juice, then the cotton gets burnt. Open them up to see how they look, as you are going to trash them anyways.

Hey guys, I skimmed through this thread and also read some other posts on Reddit about compatible coils with the Melo 3 tank. I have a Melo 3 mini that I got recently with my Pico and while I like the tank, I am not a sub-ohm vaper either and prefer a good MTL vape and typically use low wattage. I'm thinking of trying out the cCell coils that I've been hearing a lot about, plus I am curious about the ceramic coil and it's flavor. I know the Triton coils are also popular and I've heard some people rave about how well the Tobecco Super Tank coils work as well. For those of you who have tried several of these coils, can you give me advice on which coils I should buy? Also, I haven't done that much vaping on TC coils, only one I have is the Cubis Pro which is meh. If I get the cCells, they come in TC type coils as well as Kanthal right? Should I try the TC ones or just stick to the Kanthal version or something else entirely?
