I wish someone would do a story on the vaping culture instead of just talking about the cigarette style devices. They always make everything look so chincy and shady.

You know what. Maybe we should start a campaign to reach out to local media in each of our respective locations and get them the whole story on vaping.

I work at a bar and have been using my e-cig there, in an attempt to quit smoking cigarettes once and for good. It has not been very easy for me though, occasionally I still smoke an analog. I find that most of the difficulty lies in being surrounded by people who are smoking cigarettes, as well as the occasional odd look in my direction, and drunk people asking me "Hey thurr.. what is that you got there?!!?" And every now and then, I will meet someone who is convinced that e-cigs are horrible for you and worse than regular cigarettes! When asked "and how do you know this?" They always reply that they read it somewhere or their friend told them. Bah! Makes me so mad...

I thought the story was slightly bias toward the negative. I noticed there was much stress and emphasis on the fact that they are not regulated by the FDA, who knows what else may be in the juice (besides nicotine) and how they may lead to smoking the real thing. Also, the statement about how they are available to minors online and come in flavors such as (something) and pina colada. Hmmm. It's those type of "buzz" phrases that the nay sayers thrive on.

Not a bad story, just too short (once again) and does not really tell the whole story. I look forward to the "We Are Vapers" film and hope that it will help the public and the general uninformed understand a little bit more about the how, what, who and why regarding vaping, instead of short blubs like this. I hope it will help the type of people who tend to have a very narrow focus and get so hung up on the "non-regulation by the FDA" and the general misunderstandings surrounding nicotine itself.

It seems that anything remotely controlled by the government is going to try and shoot down the productive usages of the e-cig. People tend to be ignorant (brainwashed?) towards the use of e-cigs because there is little information to the masses other then what they see in the media (government controlled.) "Oh, it's not FDA approved, regulated..well it must be ....e!" It is probably going to take more then the local media will offer. A nice slew of independent type films/documentaries would probably be a nice first step..Anybody camera ready?

I have a friend that I told about the ecigs recently. She went to the doctor and asked him about it....his response was that he would not approve it unless it was approved by the FDA. How about all the "crap" that the FDA has approved that turned out to be bad for you. Or all the commercials for FDA approved meds that have 20 seconds about the advantages of the medicine, and then 40 seconds relating all the side effects, which are usually worse than the original condition for which you are taking the medicine.

Just an afterthought... I wonder if the two people who were vaping are on this forum? Or were they just "actors" for the story?

Just curious as I would be interested to know how much actual filming and questioning they did, how much the vapers talked about it and if a bunch was edited out??? Not that it really matters much, but was just wondering.

The biggest part that always irks me to no end always has to do with the notion that if the FDA is not involved with regulation, then it is Baaaaddddd... As far as the FDA goes, I never want to see ecigs regulated by them at all, it would be at that point that I may start to worry. I'll bet there would have to be a bunch of added junk to the juices that does not need to be there if they "regulated" the industry. It's too bad that people cannot seem to understand that the FDA is not necessarily all about the best intrests of the people. Just because a food or drug or other product has the "blessing" of the FDA does not guarantee it is good, or even 100% safe, to consume.... but the Lemmings will always disagree.

Ok ... maybe it's a bit bias ... It might not be the greatest impression of what vaping is or shed a true light on our community, but for mainstream TV it's nice to see someone not completely dismissing or spouting negativity on vaping.

There is still a lot of work to be done. We should be pooling our cash and putting our own campaign out there

yeah, there is some hidden meaning in there ... but overall not horrible, we have seen worse.

I see all of the news stories on ecigs and the community but I'd like to see a news piece on the community here on ECF. I think for the most part we're an accurate depiction of the culture. As the ecig becomes more popular, many user might get the wrong perception about products and those who use it. Maybe get some testimonials from us who use ecigs religiously you know?

Interesting media coverage – abc27 did a good job of being non-bias. Worth checking out.
