Electronic Cigarettes Could Be The Invention Of The Century | Everything You Need To Know About Anything

"...While electronic cigarettes may be able to change the lives of smokers on a day to day basis, there is no doubt that they are hated and scrutinized by everyone who stands to benefit from their disappearance. Whether it be governments, tobacco companies, or anti-smoking special interest groups funded by pharmaceutical companies, many people stand to benefit from the end of e cigarettes. The only way to keep them in existence is to spread the word and spread it quickly."

Interesting article. Other than the nod toward the Blu, I only found one questionable thought. And, questionable because I am more optimistic than the author ...
The butts of traditional cigarettes litter the landscape as we speak and they are one of the top sources of pollution on the planet when looking at sheer numbers. Trillions of these are thrown away a year, but each e cigarette cartridge is the equivalent of 10 to 14 cigarettes. This means that overall cigarette .... litter could be reduced to around 10 percent.
since many vapers recycle their carts and cartos a number of times. And, I think that, in the end, they're less likely to be tossed out as street litter.

I'm checking some of the related articles linked at the end of the article. Thanks.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm pretty sure that is an ad. One very busy person setting up lots of different affiliate links and writing fake news stories to promote them.
Well, it is an extremely soft sell on the Blu, but the bulk of the article is generic and applies to all PVs. I wouldn't say it attempts to be a news story, so much as an essay. Nice quick read in any case.

I have marketed 3 websites and taken a course in internet marketing. One of the most important things is SEO(Search Engine Optimization), and part of that is by creating inbound links. One of the ways in doing this (aside from creating press releases) is created e-zine articles.

The website FreeArticleZines Free Article Directory - Articles Submission | Everything You Need To Know About Anything is a website that practically anyone (providing they follow a few rules as described by article marketing, very much the same as following some rules described by PR marketing) can use to promote anything.

(edit: this is most likeley just a text-ad link)
Electronic Cigarette / Electronic Cigarette Company
It's possible that's from an ad engine, however. Meaning eciguk is paying for "text ads"

it even has an affiliate code in the URL!!! :
Code:
url=http://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/?utm_source=aw&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=affiliatewindow&awc=2930_1278838193_485b4055794a6011751213f09435eb2e

(just view the first click able link in the article, case in point: "Electronic Cigarette" in the first paragraph is also a hyperlink (with affiliate code in the URL)

The plug for blu at the bottom was also inserted in by the author "Terressa Hayes" which is not a real person(rarely are they) but a PEN NAME (I too, have pen names for my marketing) is actually designed to generate web traffic for ecig junction and is most likely "Terressa Haye's" website. (http://www.ecigarettejunction.com/)

It's probably designed to create more inbound links for "ecig junction" and it's quite a common marketing strategy that works pretty good. The more inbound links your website has the higher it moves on google's ranking thus coming up on the first page when appropriate keywords are searched.

Then "Terressa" gets a higher ranking, more clicks on her website, and then she makes $ off the ads people click and the blogs on her website seem to all have affiliate links. SO most likeley she is using her website to create cash and has a dozen other "Review" like websites for this purpose, using PR's and e-zines for traffic.

OK, so it's not a bona fide news story. It is still a good review of e-cigs, available for all to see. While the author's goal is to generate more traffic to their website, it is good info, nonetheless. If it wasn't good info, it wouldn't generate the traffic. This really isn't much different than a pro-e-cig blog, and IMO, better than a PR.

VocalEK has a pro e-cig blog which shows PPC e-cig adverts, I find nothing wrong with that. She has excellent content on her blog, and draws many e-cig and potential e-cig users. Seems like a good place for e-cig adverts to me, why shouldn't she make a couple bucks for her blogging efforts ? I am not singling her out, just using for an example. Also, I'm not comparing the content of her blog to this e-zine article. I do think this is a good way to target potential e-cig users.

The important thing to remember is that a smoker researching e-cigs may encounter this. I really thought that the author raised some good points that are not commonly raised -- The litter of cigarette butts, butts flying back in the car window (my truck has many an old burn hole in the carpet from this), etc.

I think articles like this can only help spread the (good) word about e-cigarettes.

Just my :2c:

The number of pop-ups sometimes will give away a marketing flood, I found at least a couple there! And most writers with creds have a good recognizeable name. Still. It was interesting read, per se. Then again, you never know, the announcement for a company merger just recently regarding e-cigs and chain quick mart turned out to be possibly true. Good things can happen, we just keep hoping.

Just to clarify: I don't have direct control over the ads that appear. Google selects the ads, based on keywords in the articles. So don't be surprised if you see an ad for the American Lung Association. :p

It's another insanity contribution for critics of eCigs to bash someone who stands to make a buck providing good information about an obviously healthier product, when it's so transparently clear that many anti's make money selling junk to help people quit. There's a whole industry that can tap into health care funds, anti smoking funds, pharm funds, and quit smoking schemes. Personally, I think some of those funds should be available to ecig companies. If they provide a safer alternative that smokers actually like, shouldn't ecig companies be able to make a case that they deserve some of the funds dedicated to those who are trying to stop smoking?? In a perfect world, I think they should, but what do I know??

I hope I wasn't perceived as such. I'm ALL for making a buck! The bottom line is if there is a need than the market will fill it. The e-cigs are a fantastic invention and the more affiliate programs we have and the more people out there trying to make money off of them the more popular they become! :)

Not only that, the more technologically advanced they become! Thus, giving us longer battery life, increased ease of use, etc. THUMBS UP TO ECIGS!! That's all I'm sayin' and that's why I'm vapin' ;)

The only way that e-cig companies are going to get funds like this is to have them classified as drug/delivery devices. They are not devices for quitting smoking. They are simply an alternative to traditional cigarettes. If they are classified as drug delivery devices then the FDA will surely ban them.
