Sorry to post from reddit over here, but I did not see this article through a quick scan of your site.

Electronic cigarettes induce DNA strand breaks and cell death independently of nicotine in cell lines. - PubMed • /r/electronic_cigarette

If someone can find a good hosting site to share that article that is linked to at the bottom, please post it here. Seems pretty important this information be shared and evaluated by the community.

Edit: I'm not allowed to post the link here. I'll try posting this so you can search for it online: doi:10.1016/j.oraloncology.2015.10.018 . Or on /r/ECR it's currently one of the top posts, with a download link that's not behind a paywall.

If ecig vapor is causing dna breaks in cells, it makes me wonder how many cells in the stomach/throat have ben altered over the 20+ years I've ingested the EXACT same chemicals. PG is found in all of your cake like foods. Flavoring are a given. And VG is found in alot of "thick" sauces.

I want to see the legit data sheet from this "testing"

Essentially, we have a group claiming that e-cigarettes cause cancer with no peer review of the study.

I think I'll wait for the good Dr to weigh in on the actual study and its methodology.
How so? It was published in respected peer-reviewed journal "Oral Oncology" (by the way I have coauthored a paper in that journal). It is rather interesting paper, I read it - I have access to full text via my university. I am not qualified to discuss choice of cell lines, but otherwise the only possible pitfall is the method of vapor production - whether again coils were overheated (good subject for good Dr.)

Cytotoxicity is an important method of evaluation of possible harm.

What I have gathered so far is what ever they used to simulate cigarettes killed the cells
in 24 hours. All the e-juice was tested for a period of 8 days. The cells exposed to the
e-juice were compared to the cells in the control group and were found to have damage
at x times the control group depending on the exact composition of the mixture.
The mortality rate of the control group wasn't indicated. I assume it was extremely
low to none. I gleaned this from the posts on that other forum. I haven't read the study
myself.
I think this just proves what previous research has indicated. Vaping is magnitudes
of order safer than smoking. Maybe more than we thought?

Hers the comparison of the groups.
" annexin v apoptosis assay (p3=% alive cells in the test groups): control (healthy cells) 70.9%, e-liquids 28-50%, nicotine 36%, cigarettes 0.2%"
The e-juice was a pg/vg 70/30 mix with and with out nic. I believe they also did nic alone and
what ever it was to simulate cigarettes.
Is there any math people that can determine the magnitude of order across the spread?
Regards
Mike

Everyone here is going to say this is biased research and disregard it as false. In reality, it seems pretty legitimate (their testing procedures at least) and it doesn't seem like they're trying to bash/ruin vaping for some ulterior motive.

Damn. Guess I gotta start making an effort to quit vaping. Knew it'd happen, just didn't have the motivation 'till now.

I don't believe its biased. It shows what we have known all along. vaping is magnitudes of
order safer than smoking. Vaping is 99.3 to 99.6% safer than smoking.
40 to 70 % as safe as the control group v 99.7 less safe for cigarettes.
remember these type test only give a indication some thing might cause
cancer and by no means are definitive. Notice that 30% of the cells in
the control group not exposed to anything were damaged or died.
