By creating a real or perceived "hostile environment" or "Unstable Condition" in a market, some will
prosper off the fear and greed of others.

I refuse to buy into it. Or rather, try my best not to.

I think of the businesses in on the ground floor of any new industry/technology. Many do the
groundbreaking work, take on a ton of risk and work tirelessly only to have others come along
and clone they're products, flood the market with cheaper product and often put the
pioneers out of business.

Like the PC business in the early days of computers(even until today)
the e-cig industry has been making great advancements too.
A company that went all in on 32kb ram memory and stocked up
heavily just before the new "life changing" 64kb ram was introduced learned a hard
lesson. Having a huge portion of their investment tied up in a product that "all of a sudden"
nobody wants. They are simply not in a position financially or mentally to go "all in" or even
"any in" when the new 64kb ram hit the market.

If they were unwilling to drastically reduce the price of their 32kb inventory they'd have been
left in the dust. Fortunately for them the market was no where near the saturation level.
Plus the reduction in price made it more affordable/attainable for joe public.
So they mostly made it through okay.

I gotta really feel for e-cig vendors who've jumped in, in a big way, with some of the "new"
innovations in vaping in the recent past. Those problematic advancements that do not work as
advertised or that received poor reviews soon after their introduction.

With new vendors popping up every day and competition that eats into their profits only on
the rise, it truly "is" becoming a "hostile environment" for many. (Thinking R.I.M.)

All the new stuff available to us vapers is truly mind boggling.
Finding what works best for us is an ongoing quest.

I'll not be hording any items today thank-you as I don't know what new innovations
tomorrow may bring. A handful of my go to's is enough for now.

I really am hoping you won't see me at the fireside tomorrow dripping plain PG on
a burning log. lol. But even still.....
I'll be taking it as I always do....ONE DAY AT A TIME!
There's 5 min. you'll never get back!:vapor::vapor:

Ooh love the font :)

I agree it must really suck for a vendor to jump all over the latest and greatest gadget that factories in China are putting out seemingly every day. First there's version 1, then 1.5, then 2, then 2.5 and all of these are released within days/weeks of the original.

I remember reading somewhere that GotVapes was going to implement a new program that would allow certain members who absolutely had to have the latest gadgets and basically act as product testers. They would only order small quantities, not broadcast it all over their site and they'd also charge a little bit more to cover the costs. I wonder if they went through with it because I thought it was a great idea.

I've gotten suckered into buying a lot of untested/unreviewed latest and greatest products (burn in hell you POS Vivi Nova ) - I don't know why I still get tempted when clearly I know that nothing will ever compare to the simplicity and purity of plain 'ol dripping in an atomizer.

Who knows what technology tomorrow will bring??

But the Canadian ~~ and worldwide ~~ enthusiasm for electronic cigarettes is clearly sending a message that people want a cheaper (less costly) and 'healthier' (less harmful) alternative to tobacco smokes. Legislators would do well to pay attention to the growing trend, daily gaining momentum, than trying to squash something that's been a long time coming. In fact, long overdue.

Not knowing what these ruling bodies are going to do next, I tend to stock up a little and make sure that this good thing of vaping isn't brought to a sudden halt.

I don't trust our government on this issue. Not at all.

I have mulled over this a bit in the past and came the same conclusion, had this picture of having boxes of stuff that i didn't use anymore. I know that the technology of vaping will be changing constantly, and foresee in the near future a completely different way to vape.

Retail deals with the issues you mention no matter what the products. That's what blowout sales are often about.

Anyway, well said. It's a gamble either way :).

It would be interesting to run a comparative analysis using the evolution of the computer market or better yet the cell phone market and current market position with respect to technology and corporatization. The beauty and interesting about this model is that the technology and chemistry is complex yet simple enough to allow development on a global basis. The end game will be fascinating as the market matures. Will the chinese maintain market dominance or will they be relegated to the mass consumption ancillary parts i.e., batteries with high end styling and construction staying in the West.

New technology is a great thing, but remember to always have on hand what currently works for you. You never know when there may be a supply issue and you may have to fall back on current tech.

I buy new mods, as I sell older ones that are not being used, but I always make sure I have enough cartos, batteries and juice to survive for up to 6 months if the need ever presents itself.

I just call it stock replenishment. ;)

In closing, I'm going to borrow a phrase from our very own DevilFishPhil: "burn in hell you POS Vivi Nova"

Dusty, you're lucky. Finding a Holy Grail ADV takes on a whole new urgency with the possible threat of juice extinction. What juice, prey tell, would I stock up on?

Not the one that I'm stocked up on, hopefully! Wouldn't want to fight you in one of those cage death matches. I've seen you use that crutch, and you could be hiding a Trident in there or something.

Ok, I'm rambling now. Goodnight folks, while I still have partial control of my grey cells. ;)

OT- Why is the Viva Nova bad ? I just found that and someone was suggesting it in another thread ..

In Biblical terms, it's like being told of the Promised Land and then spending 40 years in the desert eating bread and locusts getting there. P.S - We're still very much in the desert. ;)

Keep in mind that vaping was invented in China.
Their dominance in manufacturing will mean that they are the key to bringing down prices of new technology, wherever it is developed, to allow vaping to become more mainstream.
An interesting aspect of vaping as it relates to future markets might be to study disposable income of the target consumer. I have seen very little discussion on that topic.

That might be true but remember the Apple line of products is designed in the US as are all the other consummer related products.

Like a scared noob I stocked up on a ton of KR808-D1 blank cartos in a V4L sale when I first joined. I've PIFed a pile twice and am still sitting on a bag full. A few well timed articles about the FDA and what was happening in Canada drove me. About that time I moved to eGos and now REOs (14 months and counting) and never used them again. I keep asking myself how desperate I'd have to be before I went back to KR808-D1s. My gut says I'd probably quit first. Best not to start hoarding or collecting emergency supplies until you are pretty satisfied with your equipment. 3-6 month supply seems about right for atomizers and I continue to keep the gone but not dead ones just in case.

Fortunately for vendors most of the latest and greatest sell out in no time. For the not so greatest and no longer latest they will hype the products to newbies or sell them cheap. I don't think vendors are buying in quantities that large anyway. Most are experienced vapers that know where the technology is going and what they can sell to us. Seems everything I use is always out of stock.

Following ECF and other ecig forums is my security blanket. I'll probably read it here with enough time to really hoard if there is a problem. Nicotine is the biggy and I have a 6 month supply in my freezer even though I don't generally DIY. I'll replace it in a few years if I don't use it. A drip-able ecig you could learn to make in a pinch.

Blank Coolcarts anyone?
