So I found myself in the Emergency Room just now and brought my iPad for the wait. They have wi-fi so I connected through their service and went to open ECF, only to get this:

Meh @ Category: tobacco

It's pretty stupid to block it based on tobacco, since eCigs are not tobacco. Then again, they are in competition with eCigs if you take the view that they are a for profit enterprise allied with the health insurance and pharmaceutical industries. In that way, it makes sense that they can allow or block whomever (competition for example) they desire on their free WiFi network. They aren't the government and are under no legal or ethical obligation to provide unfettered access to anything. McDonalds and Starbucks block some firearms websites and forums, so I guess it's pretty much par for the course and not unusual.

Having worked in Hospital IT departments for over a decade (medical informatics) quit'cher [Moderated]' it's FREE

so to be part of the SOLUTION, while you're waiting, call their IT department, there's some guy there stuck in a cubie and he can edit the filter for you. (once you explain politely what it is, and he'll allow it) :)

Hope you're ok?

No problem since I have hotspot capability on my phone (still in the ER!) but I had high hopes coming in this morning given the sign in front of the hospital states a TOBACCO free zone. Most times you see smoke free so I was thinking they were at least somewhat progressive in this regard, but then pffffft! ;)

category: tobacco

I wonder what category NRT's fall under since they contain the same ingredients.

I wonder if they block the category of drugs too?

Might be fun to play with, see what else they block.
My local ER (attached to a univ teaching hosp) was not blocked.
There's been a couple of times the "trusted" rating for ECF showed blocked - ANTZ trolls.
