Yes, Di, they really are gorgeous! You do wonderful work!

Stormy, I live in a place where it is city mixed with small farms. I'm on a hill on one side of a valley full of little farms. One of them had Peacocks a long time ago....you could hear them "singing" all over the valley and hills! It's a nice sound if you're kind of far away  I miss them now that they have been gone for a few years.

But they and their near neighbors probably do not!
We don't have really close neighbors out here but the sounds carry for a long way because it is usually so quiet. We can hear the owls and coyotes and sometimes a panther. I have had deers walking across my front yard and drink out of my frog pond.

That sounds like a little piece of heaven, stormy.

It is mostly. We just got back from the courthouse. A few months ago a neighbor shot and killed my sons dog. It had just gone out of the house I am sure less than 3 minutes. My son went running out when he heard the shots. He was yelling don't shoot my dog over and over then bang again. I took my son and the dog to the vet but we didn't make it. The dog was shot 3 times. When we got back home my husband was shooting in the air. I asked him what he was doing and he said the neighbor was hiding behind a tree and had been shooting his gun in the air and my husband was just letting him know that he had a gun too. This was a stupid thing to do. Well guess who went to jail. The neighbor claimed that the dog was chasing his wife and he told my son to get the dog out of his yard and he refused. That was a total lie. He also said that my husband was pointing his gun at him. This was also a lie. If convicted my husband would have had to serve a minimum of 1 year in jail. Yes my husband did a stupid thing but they can't put you in jail for being stupid or we would all be there. The neighbor tried to change his story about the gun being pointed at him but he would have been in trouble for filing a false report. After nearly 4 thousand dollars he just has to serve 1 year probation. He has to submit to drug testing but that is no sweat as long as he don't forget and eat a poppy seed roll.

Holy cow, stormy!! What a nightmare - that's just wrong! I'm glad your husband doesn't have to serve time. How's the relationship between you and the neighbor now? There's nothing worse than feuds with neighbors. Shakin' my head...

A lot better than you would think. My husband is the kindest man I know. He is just also an animal lover. If the guy had shot a stray dog it wouldn't have made any difference. It is a good thing that he likes people too.

Well, that's good that there aren't bitter feelings because that could make your living arrangments miserable. Bless your husband for that.
I can't say that there is no hard feelings. What can you do? You can't retaliate. You just have to move on and try not to think about it. My husband is nicer than I am. He talks to them. I can't yet. I don't wish them harm. I just hope they don't kill anything else out here.
