I am new to DIY liquids and I need some help. If I wanted to add Ethyl Maltol found here http://www.ecigexpress.com/diy-supplies-powders-and-crystals-c-43_92/ethyl-maltol-select-size-p-295 then do I need to do anything to it before I add it to my juice. The page I linked at ecigexpress says that I should microwave it. Adding the step of the microwave seems like it is starting to get a little complicated than I would like. Do I have to do this or does anyone just add it to your juice as is? Also, how much would I add?

The crystals have to be dissolved in PG. 1/4 tsp crystals to 10 ml PG. Soak in hot water bath and shake often until crystals dissolve. It is now ready to add to your juice recipe. I like to mix mine with more crystals than the standard recommendation, but that's just my preference.
Or you can just get a bottle of LorAnns or TPA Cotton Candy which is the same thing. Then you don't have to worry about none of that. If your new to DIY I recommend just getting some cotton candy.
I did a bit of a different mix:
1 tsp Ethyl Maltol crystals into a beaker, topped to 45 ml mark with 50/50 vg/pg. I didn't have much PG, and was curious how well VG would work, and it came out fine.
If you microwave it, do it in around 5 second intervals, and check to see how hot it is. PG and VG can get much hotter than water, but you only need about 200 degrees to dissolve it rather quickly.
