I sure hope everyone reading this thread signs that petition, and that includes those of us in the United States.
What they are trying to do in the EU is exactly what many of us fear the FDA is going to do.

If I have to appeal to selfish interests, then think of it this way...
If the EU pulls this off, it gives the FDA more justification for doing the same thing.

And vice versa.

We're all in this together, and we see now from the EU the true desires of those that want to crush electronic cigarettes.
And don't think for one minute that those desires are any different in any part of the world.

Make no mistake-this favour we ask is returnable, in a heartbeat. :)

That was really quite something, my friends. I don't think I've ever been a part of something quite like what I saw on Twitter tonight! I'm not often described as an "emotional" person, but it's impossible not to be moved by such an awesome display of solidarity. I truly hope that we can beat this thing and, by doing so, set a precedent the world over.

I'm afraid I'm off to bed now, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everybody who signed the petition from the very bottom of my heart. When I started this thread, we had 11,138 signatures. The figure now stands at 15,994! Each and every one of you helped to make that happen. ECF was the first vaping forum I joined and it has always felt like "home" - a sentiment that has only grown stronger over the past few days.

Please continue to spread the word - even though the Trialogue is tomorrow, I have a feeling we're in for a good couple of months' worth of to-ing and fro-ing. I will update this thread with a summary of what happens tomorrow just as soon as we've had a chance to sift through and dissect all of the information.

Good night all!

JJ

Signed.

So ah... who is this undisclosed WHO person?

And... is there any evidence to suggest this thing is being driven by the tobacco giants? It would seem the obvious conclusion, no?

Let's find out who's driving this crap, this is terrible.

Another thing we should do, is find what evidence exists to show that vaping is safe, and bring that together under one resource. Perhaps the ECF mods could help out here.

Big Pharma and Big Tobacco.

Big Pharma - let me look through my bookmarks tomorrow, please

Big Tobacco:

Lithuania has the EU Presidency at the moment. It is the only EU country that has banned e-cigs outright.
And it has a good reason to try and ban e-cigs in the entire EU:

Philip Morris in Lithuania

The Investments in Lithuania made by PMI since 1993 exceed 143 million USD

Small money? Not really:
Lithuania has an estimated population of 3 million as of 2013
source: Lithuania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

- I checked and re-checked. Yes, approx 3 million inhabitants
also see here: Litauen Einwohnerzahl Profil 2012

- so 143 mil US$ over 20 years is big money.

................
And that Twitterbomb tonight ROCKED

After spending about twenty minutes reading of them links to other sites this is the one that jumps out!

"A growing number of established tobacco companies are investing in the e-cigarette market worldwide, including Lorillard, British American Tobacco, Imperial Tobacco, Reynolds American and Altria."

Here we go the big business tobacco companies getting what they want....
