It seems that there hasn't been ANY activity, as far as posting in awhile. I am sorry for being away for so long. I see that the posts are still being read, so post if you have the time. We may be the only Bible some people ever read.
Eating and Drinking - Part 1
BREAKFAST
Breakfast, the first meal of the day, was not a big meal. The family would usually eat bread and cheese and some fruit or olives. The men might take their breakfast with them to the fields.
EVENING MEAL
The main meal of the day was in the evening, when work was finished and the sun was less hot. The women prepared a pot of vegetable stew or lentils (Genesis 25:29, 32), which was simmering over the fire when the fire when the men returned from the fields. Everyone would scoop food out of the pot, using a piece of bread. There were no knives and forks to eat with. They might drink wine with the meal, and on special occasions they might have some meat too. They often finished the meal with fruit.,
They ate quite healthy, don't you think? How many of us, if we went back in time, wouldn't complain that all we had was vegetable stew? Some time ago, I began thanking God for a feast, regardless of what I eat. If I eat buttered toast and jelly, it is a feast. Eggs and bacon.....a feast. Cheese sandwich.....a feast. Cheap cereal....a feast. (the cost of cereal is outrageous!) Fruit.....a feast......on and on. How blessed we are and we don't even know it.......even me.
