I'm not sure what the deal is, got my kr8 and I do like it but everything seems too harsh in it. I get too big a th and then I'm coughing. I'm vaping at 11mg which is what I have that's premixed. Have some stuff to mix but need to find something to mix it in.

Beginning to wonder if maybe the pg is a no go for me.

Cravings wise I've done better than I ever have whenever I've avoided analogs in the past. I did smoke some yesterday but so much less it was amazing. And the real miracle was getting up this morning and Not falling off into a pack of analogs and not coming up for air for a couple of hours. I've been up for over three hours and had less than half of one analog - and I'm not screaming, whimpering or pulling out my hair.

Great start, just hang in there. I don't like the throat hit and cough sometimes, too. I have less of a problem with VG so you might want to try that. The other trick for me was/is learning the best way to inhale. Less of an inhale actually. It is hard for me to remember to take a reallllly slow drag and I breathe in through the nose at the same time. This produces lots of vapor and less throat hit since I am not inhaling so much air at the end. Don't know if this makes any sense, just experiment with it.

Well, I also had a bit of a problem with PG, I can put my 0mg liquid in my PV and still get a fair TH which tells me that it's most likely the PG. WHat I do is thin my liquid down to around 6-8mg, and that makes it pretty tolerable.

I'm not sure on how healthy it is to constantly put something you might be allergic to into your body, however.. It's something I'm just beginning to deal with as well.. So maybe we should post an inquiry in the health forum.

I think that constantly using something we're allergic to is a problem, definitely. The other side of that coin is, in limited quantities isn't it better than cigarette smoke? Definitely something to explore on the health forum. My plan for the time being is to cut my pg/vg high nic juice with more vg and flavour. Hopefully it won't mess with my pv. Maybe that will help...

A cooler burning pv is definitely another possibility, but for now, I can not buy another and must use the kr8 for awhile, alas.

Giving your KR8 a little time is probably a good idea anyway. New batteries and attys can be a little harsh at first till they break in.

You just may be (not so much allergic) but sensitive to PG just as I am. The PG does give a mean throat hit at times and the nicotine also adds to that mix. VG on the other hand is much milder (to me) and therefore makes it much easier for me to vape. I get much less throat hit and no coughing using VG.

I would suggest that to see if the PG is part of the problem with coughing, to try this: Get some VG (USP Grade). I get and use both Glycerin VG from WalMart (just ask the pharmacist to show you where it is) and I also get Wiltons brand from my local A.C. Moore (a local craft shop) and is located in the cake and candy making supply aisle. Then if you have a used up cartomizer, you can mix perhaps 8 or 9 drops of VG with 1 or 2 drops of either distilled water or Vodka or PGA (Pure Grain Alcohol). Suck this mix into an eye dropper a few times to mix it good and then drop this mix into your empty carto. You can find a video on how to refill a cartomizer on Youtube. There won't be any flavor, but tons of vapor. This will be the best way to tell if you can tolerate the VG better than the PG.

If this works for you, then you can order VG based e-juice and refill your own cartos much cheaper.

    Just trying to help.

It could be how you inhale!! Draw the vapor into your mouth first and then inhale it. I realized after getting my 510 that is the way I always used to smoke and I never even realized it...and then I remembered if I inhaled right as I took hits off my real cigs it would make me cough to, so I draw into my mouth then inhale and the world is perfect :)

I have some usp vg, I'll try it when I empty a cart.

I don't inhale straight off the draw, I can't do that at all. I draw the vapour into my mouth and then inhale just a tiny bit and let the rest kind of roll out of my mouth.. only way I can keep from having a really bad coughing fit. It still makes me cough some though.

Define 'stubby battery' please? - would that be the batteries the kr8 initially comes with?

You might try the cartomizer swap thread at V4L if you have V4L cartos, plenty of people have been trying the VG and deciding they prefer the PG.

It depends on which kit you ordered to start with, there are three battery sizes, short, regular and xl.

Its all been said so I'll keep it short:

Lesser ecig, less of an inhale, possibly VG instead.

This also came to mind, if none of those work, or if your dedicated to you KR8(?)

Use ur regular dosage niquid about every hour (or whenever you feel that you need nicotine), but use no nic for the rest of the time. I know I like to chain vape, but I can tell when I should take a break. I don't always want to...

I discovered that if you're still smoking analogs AT ALL and have a problem with throat itch, burning and harshness with your e-cig, to try quitting analogs completely for a week or two (try chantix or the patch) and let your lungs heal first. I discovered this myself when I first got my 801 that it made me cough and hack every time and gave up. It was only after quitting 3 weeks with chantix that i was able to resume vaping and actually enjoyed it. I still find myself mouth inhaling as if I were smoking a pipe, but then again that's not such a bad thing as it lets me enjoy the vapor and it's flavor. The other nice thing about 'quitting' first is that when you do start vaping, your craving cycle will be much less severe and vaping will satisfy you, without feeling like you need to go out and buy analogs to satisy it. I feel like i'm in control of my nicotine now instead of it being in control of me.

to reiterate for anyone just reading this thread tl/dr, etc.

If vaping burns, itches, makes your throat itch or induces coughing:

1.) Stop smoking analogs completely, preferably for 1-3 weeks

2.) Lean toward VG (Vegetable Glycerine) mixes

3.) Experiment with different e-cigs which deliver less vapor or burn cooler (901's)

4.) Don't treat your e-cig as a cigarette, it requires a different style of inhale: short puffs that don't overheat the cartridge are best. With a manual battery, don't activate longer than 2 seconds at a time (try a long inhale alternating depressing the button and taking your mouth off the mouthpiece to mix air in your lungs)

5.) Do try modding your cartridge, they don't all contain material that doesn't burn or melt. Personally, I prefer using the "Lipton Pyramid Tea Bag" mod as it doesn't create that harsh burning taste.

6.) Do experiment with different liquids and strengths. If a 0-strength liquid burns, switch suppliers and/or liquid formulas. Every person has different preferences.

7.) Try filling your own cartridges or even dripping (using only the mouthpiece with no cartridge.

Happy vaping and please report back when you've found the combination that works for you!
