I took a little break from vaping and came back (non smoker, only vaped) and now EVERYTHING taste burnt to me. I've tried multiple set ups, with different juices & all of the equipment is clean and has fresh coils. Everything just taste horrible to me.
The two setups I've been using giving me this is my TFV8 and my eleaf icare.
I have no idea what to do. I really don't wanna not be able to vape anymore...
any ideas? I've never had this problem before.

Did you prime the coils before firing them? Make sure the coils and cotton are totally saturated with ejuice before trying to vape. Turn the watts down especially on new coils. Start at low watts and take a couple of hits.....slowly turn power up as you take a couple more tokes.
Once you have burned the coils and cotton you may as well start over unless you stopped it in time.

Once the wick is butnefy the Burnt taste stays around until the vaper completely cleans the Atomizer and installs a a new coil and wick.

Thanks for your reply.
Yeah, I've been priming extra good. Ive been vaping since before the rise of subtanks! but it still taste burnt. and I only started my vape at 35watts... im just so confused :(

Once a coil is burnt you need to replace it. Do you know anybody else who vapes so you can try theirs to see if it also tastes burnt. Could be yout taste buds.
That's the thing, I only took around 10 hits and it taste burnt and is making me hack up a lung. Like more disgusting then tobacco taste. I have a bunch of friends at a local vape shop who work there, so I may bring it in to them and see what they think

Please do not inhale that burnt stuff, its toxic or at least you have experienced the reason why not to.
Burnt always means the heat is too high or lack of saturation of the coil. Take only measured tokes on your device and don't try to vape like you smoked, i.e. don't try to 'hotbox' it. You have to allow time for the ejuice to get to the wicking. Usually the recommended ohms imprinted on the coils is just a suggestion and I for one, find they are not realistic.

I have been lucky a couple of times when I almost burnt my coils, the instant I started to feel that hot vape I stopped and was able to turn it back down and save the coil, but most times it is often too late.

Good luck and let us know. In the meantime, do you have another tank you can use until you can visit your vape shop? That is what I would advise.

Also, if it is your taste buds, try gargling with warm salt water. This has helped me often and also soothes that throat after vaping on a burnt coil.

Thanks!
Everyone I know hits their Tfv8 like crazy and they're fine :( the juice I'm using is Bedrock by Ruthless. Could it really be tasting burnt at 60watts? It just makes me sad :( Also how long would you suggest between hits?

Have you tried your friends set-ups? Ask what ejuice and pg/vg content they use? Maybe next time you order ejuice you can match their vg/pg content with your desired vape?

Also try the salt water gargling I suggested. I have only had vapors tongue a couple of times but it worked for me. Just take warm tap water and sprinkle some table salt into it and stir to dissolve. I make mine pretty strong. And then just gargle with it. Works wonders and is also good for sore throats and colds I feel coming on.

Play with the wattage and hit times on your device. Start low and wait at least a minute between hits at first. May be a good practice before hitting the fire button to do a dry pull to ensure ejuice is getting to the coil. Then hit the fire button.

In my experience, I find that different ejuices taste different on several different types of devices. As an example, I make and vape a cinna-pear type of ejuice that only does well in a nautilus tank with 1.6-1.8 ohm coil. Higher heat destroys this vape and its just not enjoyable. Finding what works for you and what you like can take some time. Its part of the vaping journey.

Ask the peeps at the vape shop to show you a cleito tank. This is made specifically for high clouds and chain vaping(if this is what you think you might like).
What did you use before you took your vape break? Did you have a set up you liked and worked for you?

:)

just curious... burnt or pepper? are you using the same juice from before? does it have any nic? if the juice is old could it have gone bad in some fashion?
It has 3MG nic, no pepper taste. I dont even get that with 6mg. Good idea though :O I just bought the juice and its new as new can be!

It could be the sweetener. Do the coils gunk up quickly?
I'm thinking maybe that... Could it really gunk it up that quickly? like 20 hits and its screwed?

I would use this opportunity to kick the habit since you never smoked cigarettes. I wish my juice didn't taste so good lol.
I just really enjoy the hobby and it helps ease my nerves and has helped me with stress to. Not a bad idea though

Since you say you took a break just how old is that e-Liquid you are vaping? Could be spoiled and that would account for problems.
Nope, JUST bought a fresh bottle :(

UPDATE: I tried it again today and its tasting much better. I'm thinking maybe since I just primed the coil and let it sit for only 10 minutes it may have not been giving me all the flavor I needed, and a slight burnt taste. I just primed it really well so I thought that was good enough. Im also thinking I just DONT like the flavor.

Also waiting a longer amount of time before hits REALLY helps. It just shocked me because I see so many people take hit after hit and they're fine.... go figure

Thanks everyone for the help, you all rock! as always

So glad you stuck with it. YAY!!

You have just experienced breaking in a brand new coil. Once you have used it for a couple of days maybe you can try doing hit after hit. And don't forget if the tank or devices starts feeling hot to let it cool off. Just remember to be aware of this experience when you start another new coil as all coils go through basically the same type of breaking in period.
