that smaller version does look sweet...Works just fine in 18350 mode. I only turned it up to about 6 volts, but it didn't seem to mind at all.

that's ok, I currently don't have any 18350 batteries,I think I got them at viper-vape.com
Only problem with running a 18350 is it won't let you configure the battery lower than 800mah. So it probably won't forecast the battery life accurately with the 700mah I have in it now.
Love mine. Much better design and build than the original evic. That being said, one thing I do find annoying are the ridges on the adjustment dial as well as the battery cover are a bit sharp. Not enough to cause injury, but finger gets snagged on it if just right.
Vaping at 20watts (.7ohms, 3.8volts, 5.3amps) and I only get about 70-80 3.5 second "puffs" before it went into overload protection. I changed to a 2.0ohm Kanger dual coil and backed the power down to 10watts (4.5volts, 2.3amps) and got another 20-30 puffs out of it. I turned the power up to 18watts with the Kanger on it, and it shut down before I even pulled the trigger. With a single coil Kanger at 8-9 watts I was able to drain the battery even further. So if you ask for more amps than are available, you're not going to get them. I'm really liking the safety features in the eVic Supreme, and I really like the size of it with the smaller battery tube. But it looks like 18350s are probably still not a very good option for anyone vaping all day at 20+ watts...no new news there.
Note: All of the above information is based on the findings of just another vaping idiot who found an ohms calculator and now thinks he is Nikola Tesla.
I'm no expert on batteries, but there is no way I would use a low amp battery unless I was vaping at a low amp setting...and if that were the case, I would just use my old low power eVic!
The Sony VTC5 is a safe bet. There's a couple of other 30+ amp batteries out now, but I don't think any of them are more than 2600mah
