I got it – I like it.

For those who thought the original eVic felt cheap because it is made of aluminum, the new version is much heavier – 116g vs 195g including battery. Personally, I would buy one made of titanium if they made it. Heavier does not necessarily mean better. I remember when they were gluing chunks of metal inside telephone handsets just to make them heavier because of the perception that heavier is better. Anyway, it is heavy stainless steel.

I have tried a bunch of different toppers – CE4, CE5, Vivi Nova, several assorted tanks and various Kanger devices, Russian 91% – right now I am digging the minimalistic / industrial look of just a plain Boge XL carto sticking out the top, no mouthpiece, just the white plastic plug. Everything fits / works / fires – no problems at all.

Sub-ohming is not my thing but I put a 0.8 ohm coil in my Russian and fired it at 15.something watts just to be able to say I did it. I didn't care for what that did to the temperature of the vapor and the flavor of my juice. I'm happier with 2 ohms at around 7 or 8 watts, maybe 9. What I like about the eVic is not the amount of power, it is the ease of fine tuning … 7 7.1 7.2 7.3 … Watts in 0.1 increments – that's what I like. 12 or 15 watts would have been fine for me but this goes to 30 watts for those who care about that stuff.

I also like the USB charging / passthru – no seperate charger, no loose batteries banging around. If I can find USB, I can vape.

I really like it, but I fully expected to. My original eVic is still working fine after 17 months and over 100,000 puffs. I replaced the battery at 13 months. Even the little trap door cover for the USB port is still in fine shape – the unattached rubber plug with the new version is most likely not gonna be around in a week … so there, I found a flaw.

The software – well, it is still Chinese software. I almost never used it on my first eVic. I suspect I won't use this version much either … no need. It's not a factor, really. I get the screen arranged to show what I want and then it's just a matter of turning the ring to adjust watts.

They have changed the things people complained about, but it is still an eVic. If you want fine-tuned wattage control, several layers of safety, and USB charging / vaping, get one.

Oh, also: Other devices (DNA and Sigelei) can't go below the voltage of the battery but set the eVic at 3.0 volts and it gives you 3.0 volts. And it has Reverse Battery Protection – put your battery in backwards in a DNA device and you destroy the device.

Nice review. A couple of questions:

1. How is the threading on the 510 connector? Strong or soft, etc? I read where the threading on the original evic was very soft and easily stripped.

2. I thought the battery could be replaced like most tube mods by charging them separately. If not, where do you get the battery replaced?

I am pretty sure you can buy new batteries for them...At my local vape store they have a lot of different ones.

1. I had no trouble with the original -- can still screw and unscrew things just fine after a year and a half of use. For those who tend to jam a device on crossthreaded then force it ... the new version has a replaceable threaded connector.

2. Yes, you can replace the battery just like most any tube mod -- but you don't have to if you don't want to. You can just connect a USB cable and continue to vape while the battery is charging inside the device.

It sounds like you and I are very similar in how we vape and what we want out of a device. I love my eVic and I'm looking to upgrade in a couple of weeks... the original plan was to get a Provari, but this thing is getting wonderful feedback all over the place. I haven't found anyone yet who got their hands on one and doesn't like it. So now I'm really torn. Have you used a Provari at all?

I would post in evic section, but seems can't anymore....eVic

Probable reason:
As part of the forum restructuring, some of the model specific subforums will be shut down and archived on March 7, 2014. For those APVs (REO, ProVari, etc.) that have a corresponding ECF Forum Supplier, questions regarding those devices should be asked in their respective forum/thread.

I have seen them, held them, used them, but never owned one. They are very good for what they are. I just don't want to get involved with battery chargers and loose naked batteries and doing Ohm's Law math in my head to try to come close to the wattage I want.

When I decided I wanted another device I looked hard at Provari, then was right on the edge of clicking the buy button for a Semovar several times. The Semovar is VV & VW and selects watts in 0.2 increments, however, it still requires a separate battery charger.

There are a few DNA devices that do USB charging, some using a non-replaceable battery. That's ok for something the price of an MVP2, but not ok with me for over $200. And I want no part of a device that destroys itself if you accidentally put the battery in backwards … so DNA was off my list.

I had pretty much decided to just buy another eVic and get a high-end stainless steel tube for it when the new model was announced and I ordered it as soon as I found one available.

BTW: pbusardo just did an interview with the manufacturers of the Provari. There is a new model on the way but they won't say how soon. If it has onboard USB charging and 0.1 watt increments, I will probably buy one.

I don't understand why USB charging isn't more common. My old Janty Stick had it.

2. Yes, you can replace the battery just like most any tube mod -- but you don't have to if you don't want to. You can just connect a USB cable and continue to vape while the battery is charging inside the device.

I think both of these are excellent features. It allows you to easily repair, if necessary, your APV threading and it gives you two options for charging the battery. I would use both ways to charge. My only concern with USB only charging option is if the USB connector gets damaged or loose.

It will be good to see a review 6 months from now on how the evic supreme is holding up.

I have the eVic S (black model) and so far find very little to dislike save the still wonky usb port cover, which is really just a small nit-pick.

I seldom vape sub ohm, but slapped a .5 ohm coil on an RSST and yes, it will fire down to .5 ohms.

This thing is a beast with my KayFun Lite and Nautilus tanks. Unlike the original eVic, this board is not PWM (pulse width modulation) and fires the KayFun like a mech mod.

I do wish that it had a floating center pin, but the 510/eGo connector being screw out & replace makes up for that.

With this power comes a price: The Sony vct4 2100mah battery that it comes with is ok...but I am picking up some 2600mah vct5's...a better match for decent run time.

The threads on this are smooth and machined nicely, the control head is bolted down with 4 screws rather than being press-fit. The direction ring is an improvement, rotates 360 instead of left-stop/right-stop (a small thing maybe but to me it makes much more sense), and the direction ring does not rattle like it did on the original eVic.

I could live long and prosperous without the screen saver, ability to upload photos (hell I vape on it, not look at pics!), and it still has what to me is the silly puff-counter...but since I can, and did set it up to ignore those, no big woof.

If you are looking for a 30 watt tube mod, there is a lot to like here whether a current/former eVic owner, or just looking for an up to date, well designed, well built mod.

I particularly like that for a 30 watt mod it does indeed "step down" in voltage, not just up, and the .1 increments for watts setting to me is a definite plus. I can adjust the power to right where I want it...one of my favorite ejuices is very finicky if the power is too high, being able to adjust it within .1 watt lets me get the most out of it without over-under powering it.

With the plastic ring to prevent arcing on the control head now, rather than in the tube, replacement/after market tubes for other batts should be quick to hit the market.

In build however, this still is no Provari...with a large, plastic encased control head it still won't take the kind of abuse a Provari can survive, but overall, the eVic S is a very, very nice update, Joyetech got a lot of stuff done better while retaining the unique features of the original eVic.

$159 for a mod of this quality/features (I got mine for $135 USD from a B&M with a coupon), including battery and charger is not by any means over-priced compared to the competition.

A friend of mine recieved his this past weekend, got it on a pre-order for $120 I think, and he seems to love it. i messed with it for a little while and was impressed. has a lot of features that you will probably never use and the screen is customizable, and will fire down to .5 ohms. looks to be a nice addition to the high-watt mod market.

Hello,

For anyone who has an eVic Supreme, can you tell me if the replacement tubes and other parts for the regular eVic's will work on the new Supreme models? I ask because I have three different color tubes for the old eVic as well as the bottom and top caps, are the parts interchangable between the two models? Thank You for anyone who can answer! =)

I just got done watching a PBusardo Review for the eVic Supreme and he does mention that "Although the threads are compatible, the old tube will not work with the Supreme due to the delrin insert. However, the new tube does work with original eVic." So, it seems as if it is kind of backwards from what I was hoping for, lol. I wonder if there is a way to circumvent this delrin insert issue? Seems kind of odd that different eVic model parts wouldn’t be fully compatible with all the models :/ Oh, well, Thanks PBusardo! =)

Hope my question and answer is able to kill someone else's curiosity, lol.
