Hahaha, nice to see someone else took advantage of the Evic parts on YoYo at TW! :D

Just further reassurance... I bought the head and tube on YoYo. Just screw them together... pop in an 18650 IMR battery... your choice of delivery system... and you're good to go! The manual and software are available for download on joyetech's website... and like the previous person said, any micro USB cable (like what you use to charge a smartphone) works.

stock charger says 5v 500mA
Think we can use 1000mA or 2000mA cell phone chargers.
I've use several 1000 and 2000 mA chargers many times. No problems with the eVic and batteries so far. Most of the time, I use an external charger though. I didn't even know that the stock is only rated for 500mA. I've never used it.

Just my opinion:

Under no circumstances should you exceed the battery manufacturer's recommendations for the charger. I have never used a charger over 500 on any of my batteries. I don't know what batteries you have, it could be safe. But this I do know, charging outside manufacturer's recommendations could have very bad consequences.

Any micro-USB cable will work just fine.

I bought a third party USB cable and could not get my pc to see the eVic, tried everything - reinstalled software (3 times), and various other workarounds but could not get it to work, waiting on an original lead to arrive and will update on the outcome.

Windows 7 fyi.

I have used only third party cables. Never had a problem. My original cable is still in the box.

Have you tried running MRV as administrator? I'm not very familiar with Windows 7, but I think you can right click the MVR icon and select "Run as administrator". Or just log in as administrator.

Me too. If the Volts are 5 all are ok. With the evic charger at 0.5a it needs about 8 hours to full charge. It's a long time. You can vape while charging but the temp goes very high and the time of charge is going more over 8 hours if vaping.

So my solution is my Samsung note2 charger with the 2a output. It charges the battery at about 2 hours only. I've tried also chargers with 1a output. If the Volts are ok the ambers gives more speedy charging. For the battery is better to charge at low ambers but if I must wait over 8 hours to charge its a pain. I also have a 18350 as a backup but I prefer the 18650 in use.
