Just got my evic yesterday and i'm trying to get My vapor record to work. No matter what I do I can't get it to see the eVic. Everytime I try to initiate communications with the evic it says "has not found the hardware equipment." I have a macbook pro with bootcamp running windows 7, i've installed it, uninstalled, re-installed in multiple directories. Nothing. Finally I got it to communicate for a couple of minutes and I was able to install firmware v1.1. I thought maybe its because of the macbook. Took it to a windows xp machine and having the exact same results. I tried changing the usb cable, removing the battery from the evic to reset it, and i tried the technique to hold the fire button while plugging it in without a battery. nothing. There are no replacement device drivers so I cant change the drivers.

One question I have is that I notice it sees the evic as a mass storage device creating a new drive. is anyones drive accessible via a pc? (meaning can you see the contents of the drive?)

I believe the problem lies with a defective USB cable but wouldn't bet my life on it.

The second eVic had the same message dialog in addition to others that it could not detect hardware, etc. When I used the USB cable from my first eVic to firmware update my second one, it worked fine. The second USB cable charges OK, but will not detect the device.

Maybe keep playing around with the cable ... otherwise you may have to exchange it, which is what I would have done if I wasn't so lazy to get a replacement and found a workaround for it. I run Windows XP.

Oh, I have read that once you install the new firmware, you must uninstall and re-install the MVR software.
I did all that, incl. stripping any reg entries, temp install files and reboot. It wasn't until I used the USB cable from my first eVic on my second one that I get WinXP to detect the unit. Merely plugging in the USB cable from the second eVic caused the computer to freeze, first one didn't do it.

thanks everyone. i did try a different usb cable, but i'll give it another shot. I've re-installed MVR software so many times its amazing. Oh, and on a weird side note, when I download the MVR software from Ovale, the software doesnt even run properly. This has happened on the macbook at home and on my XP machine at work (two completely different systems/networks). The Ovale version seems to be running in the tast manager as mvr.exe, but nothing actually displays on the screen. I've tried running the compatibility wizard and running as administrator, but nothing. The MVR software from Joyetech.com runs fine.

Oh, I have read that once you install the new firmware, you must uninstall and re-install the MVR software. I have an eVic and did do the firmware upgrade, but don't recall if I had that problem (I think I just did the uninstall based upon having searched the forums prior to the eVic arriving and reading that)

Contacted joye because I was having the same problem, their first suggestion was to reinstall software. I didn't even remove it just installed it again and it didn't ask for an overwrite(?) but worked fine since then...strange.

I tried to run it as an administrator multiple times... no luck! I'm really only using MVR for firmware updates so I didn't use it again until a couple of days ago. At that time they released the native Mac OS release. I used that version I had no issues at all.

Sorry, missed the Mac info. Even running windows in bootcamp, your still on a mac and some things just won't jell. Glad you got the Mac Version. I Run OSX on an Inspiron dual boot and see similar issues from time to time.
