Had the temp hit thing earlier.

What I did was unlock resistance ,went to an air conditioned room (I am in ph it hot here)
Let the new build to cool,15-30mins

Turn the evic on gently screw in the atty then locked resistance,it did ask for the new coil thing....

Now it works OK
Previously when it was warm I get the error

Got my Spider Silk (26g) in the mail the other day. Here's my first Ti build & first ever TC build period. Luckily I haven't had any of the issues some of you guys have mentioned. In the picture you will see the VTC set @ 440°F. I bumped it down to 380°F and that seems to be ideal for this rta/juice. I take relatively short mouth to lung hits ~2s and don't often "activate" TC with how its set now. I find that if I lower it to 350°F I start activating the TC, and so far it has been working just as it should. I'm running the factory installed firmware v1.02. I was going to upgrade, and I probably will sooner rather than later, but part of me still feels like "if it aint broke, don't fix it". One odd thing is, I've yet to see the screen that asks me if I have a new atty, no matter what I do... lock/unlock, unlock then remove atty and fire, etc.

When building coils I like nickel more then titanium because it's soft and easier to work with. I can make perfect coils with nickel it's like using clay.
This 26g spider silk is super easy to work with. I was able to almost perfectly straighten the length of wire I cut just by running it through my fingers a few times. Also, after wrapping the coil, there was virtually zero recoil/unwinding.

I put a tempered 28g Ni200 build in the Aqua 2 this morning, single coil reading 0.07 ohms. There is not a lot of room in there for enough wraps with 28g to get a working resistance so I am going to try it with 30g. Any Ni200 builds on the mini below a certain value just do not work properly and vape worse than an eVod.

I think that building with Ni200 on the mini is just an exercise in futility unless you have an atty with a deck that will take 14 spaced wraps of 28g, or you have the patience for 30g and smaller. The Spider Silk Ti wire really looks like the only usable option for TC on the mini in my opinion, normal sized coils, easy to work with and the possibility of dual coil builds.

ETA: The 30g was no good on the Aqua 2 as the trapping posts are just to nasty, I even tried the Kanthal 30g & Ni 200 30g twisted... It went back to an 8 wrap 26g Kanthal build and is vaping like a champ again.

Got my mini today! I love the size and feel of it. Sleek and smooth.

I'm not so sure about the ego one tank though. I heard the CLR heads were way better so I put one in (kanthal, .5 ohm), and initially the flavor was ok, but within a couple of hits, I was getting dry ones. (I primed the coil and let it sit for over an hour before I tried it out it for the first time.) I tried closing off the airholes and took a few primer puffs, but within a couple hits had the same problem. If I did it right, juice flow is wide open. I think I'll rebuild it tonight with some ti and see if I can at least avoid those nasty dry hits.

Anyone else have the same experience with the CLR heads? Any tips?

Try opening up the juice hole by screwing down the second lower ring. That should get the juice flowing faster. However, if you chain vape the wicking might still not catch up.

I've heard that when rebuilding CLR heads for Ego One Mega Tank you should remove the Juice control ring at the bottom entirely especially on non temp control builds as there is not enough clearance between chimney and the lower ring to allow proper flow of juice to the wicks. There is a video suggesting this but never bookmarked the link.

I rebuilt the CLR head (ended up using nickel) and was a little more generous with wicking than the stock coil. Now it's hitting much better. I think it's both the wicking and the use of temp control that's preventing those dry hits.

Thanks, everyone, for the feedback!

I saw the same video and tried it -- works very well! I was concerned about flooding with thinner juices but so far it's been wicking perfectly with everything I've tried it with (tried it with juices ranging from 50% to 80% VG).

This is the video I saw the technique in. The coil info starts at about 19 min in:

I'm beginning to really not like the VTC Mini. TC seems to be all over the damn place. I initially attributed the inconsistencies to the factory coil heads. So, I tossed my Origen V3 on the Mini with a 0.1ohm Ni200 build and the problems continue. The same atty with the same build and the same temp and power settings work awesome on other TC mods. The Mini's performance was good when I was able to get it to prompt me for a new coil. It worked great until I let it sit for about five minutes and then the anemic performance started again. Doesn't matter if atty resistance is locked or unlocked. I have to max the temp at 600F to get any vapor production and heat at all.

I'm no stranger to TC mods - this is my 6th TC device. I am convinced some of these are simply defective. I am running the new firmware for whatever that's worth (not much, apparently). Glad I didn't actually pay for this thing. I received it for review and, based on this unit, the review won't be very good.

edit: I just took some time to actually read back through this thread and saw several posts describing nearly the exact behavior as I described. And, just because *your* unit works as intended, that doesn't mean those of us with problems don't know how to run the device.

Just curious, is the resistance reading dropping on you after it sleeps and becomes anemic?

Similar deal here I have a 0.16 ohm build of Ni-200 in a spring modded Kayfun V4. This morning with the temperature set at 450F and power at 40W, I experienced a very nice warm vape. Now the resistance has dropped to 0.14 ohms, the warmth and overall quality of the vape has dropped off considerably.

Unfortunately I didn't get mine for free, I bought it at a local B&M here in Canada so you know I paid way too much for it. I had taken it in with the Origen V2 built with a vertical coil of 11 wraps of 28g tempered Ni 200 and it seemed to work properly at the store. They slagged it off any weak vape scenario as to that's the way these these things work. Sales guy says TC is a different vape from regular and it does take getting used to. The Origen was tried on a iStick 40WTC and an IPV3 Li, each provided a similar vape experience to the VTC which seemed to be operating properly at the time. So I didn't have any grounds for an exchange or refund. :glare:

Hopefully when my Ti wire gets here and I can build a normal 6 wrap coil again around .35 ohms, the VTC mini will work flawlessly and it won't be another wasted $20 trying to get this device to work. The VW mode works great and Bypass is excellent but it's an overpriced V/W mod if the TC won't function properly.

Looking forward to your review @inswva

I'm not sure I will actually review this unit. I'm going to see if the vendor wants to supply another one in exchange for this turd. I'd like to review a properly functioning device.

Out of curiosity, for those who believe their devices aren't functioning properly, what is the batch number from your mod? L08036 here.

oBYcHkBl.jpg

just checked mine,
i have the same print on the magnet,

the past few days, i dont even have the prompt for the new coil thing regardless of what i did,

vapes very weak on ti mode @450f
even @480

currently set at 550 tp get a decent vape..

this is frustrating.
no new coil message.,
weak vape..

then people tell you here i imply that youre just too dumb to use the device,

nice right
