After a while searching for an upgrade for my now rusty, and scratched istick I believe I should upgrade to the evic VTC mini 75w with the tron tank, however, I can't settle on which battery to buy, also what I should know before getting in the world of sub-ohm vaping. I have read one too many horror stories, so I don't want to buy it without knowing the potential risks (assuming there are any). Any tips on proper use of the device are welcome.

LG HG2 3000mah 20A (continuous)
LG HE4 2500mah 20A (continuous)

I run both those batteries and they work great, as for sub ohm in wattage/kanthal mode if you do get those batteries and the VTC mini just don't go below 0.3 Ohm's and you should be fine it will leave a little room for error :)

Is there like some chart for subohm vaping ? Just to be 100% sure.

Hi and welcome. You should be as safe as can be with that rig, and the LG part is an excellent battery. 9mg juice is probably a bit stiff for subohm coils. 3-6 is more usual. But you can buy 0mg juice in the same flavor and mix evenly by volume for some 4.5 if you want to try the lower values.

Thank you, very helpful tips, you did make me feel safer, although I have to ask what makes the evic vtc such a safe option ?

When using a regulated mod the resistance doesn't matter as long as your mod can fire it. The wattage you will be vaping at determines the CDR (continuous discharge rating)/amps of the battery you will need to vape safe.
If you are interested in learning more about batteries, here are some other great battery blogs by @Mooch.

It is a regulated mod. All regulated mods are safer than mechanical mods because they have electronics to watch for things like a shorted coil or a discharged battery. While I encourage you to learn about Ohms Law, using a regulated mod it is much less important than with a mechanical, where it is imperative. It's still possible to blow a regulated mod up-- putting in a 5 amp battery would do it-- it's harder to do than in a mech. And I believe the other poster accidentally reversed the nomenclature: the 20A, 3000mAh battery is the HG2. The 20A, 2500 mAh battery is the HE2 (or HE4).

Thank you, this eased my mind, I was rather worried in the beginning, probably fell victim to the fear of all those news stories of people ending up with half their face gone.
