Okay, Aglet. I am getting too confused with all of these similar avis to yours. Got a pet?

Well I caught this possum the other day in my trap... it's kind of like a pet.

They are mean. This momma had about 5 babies that I caught over a period of a few days. I never kill any critters I find out here, I drive over the river and let them go so someone else can deal with them (sorry neighbors)

Alright, let me put a picture of my dog, I too was getting confused with my own avatar.

(sorry for the thread hijack OP)

I am experiencing (I'm 99% sure) the same taste that you are. I am using 3mm silica, and I have tried both 32 kanthal and 30 nichrome. I'm really new to building coils, but it is still getting on my last nerve. However, I did get the same taste from a new Evod that I purchased this morning..........I'll be checking on you to see if you find the fix!

Hmmm.

I built a coil/wick yesterday using my stock of 3 mm wick and 32 ga Kanthal-A1. No problems. Rinsed it 1st (in water) and vaped. No problems.

So MAYBE the coil wire is the issue...(mine is old stock). But the OP posted that he had built several coils before and had no issues. Or maybe wick. Or contaminants on either.

I wonder if coil wire degrades in humidity or other atmospheric conditions (I store my stuff in bags). Like could it be ..."rusty"/oxidized wire? OP: You said you washed it....

So this is not making sense.

FYI - I purchased my wire 6 months or so ago. From an e-cig vendor, not in bulk from somewhere. Same with wick. IDK if I trust the quality of random bulk purchases of that stuff from Joe Shmo. But IDK where you got yours.

Well being new to all of this, all I can do is go with what I read. I had read that dry burning new coils was a must, so that's what I was doing. THEN I read that dry burning silica could only be harmful, so I whipped up another one. I put a few drops of juice on the coil, put the Evod back together, and started vapeing. No terrible taste this time. I did, however, torch the wire prior to wrapping. Was this coincidence?? Don't ask me.....
