EVOD coil trouble

I've been loving my EVOD, and was working great with 1.8 ohm could head. I wanted higher resistance so I bought a replacement coil head rated at 2.5 ohm. I popped it in my EVOD and started at 4V, then increased to about 4.5 since the flavor was a bit weak. Now I'm getting very little vapor, and the area where the coil sits is hot to the touch. I never got a burnt taste, and can't I imagine that 4.5 V would be too high for a standard resistance coil. Upon taking it apart, everything looks fine, but I did notice that the wicks aren't saturated, so it seems that for some reason it is not wicking the juice properly. Anyone have any ideas?

Looks like you need to do some wicking work. First thing try flipping the cup seal. If that doesn't solve the problem you may need to pop the knurled cap off and take out one or more of the flavor wicks. While you are in there confirm the coil is centered or at least not touching the sides.

Weird.. I have 2.5s, and I run at 8w, which is around 4.5v. I've never had a dry hit. And the only time the base warms up is when I'm crazy vaping.
