^^^^^ this is true..........too aggressive with dry burns or building your own coils and having a hot leg can torch the rubber and that taste will not go away without replacing it.

However, I think that all "new style" Kanger coils have the silicone grommet instead of the rubber and knurled chimneys. If it is not, you likely have a knock off because I haven't bought any real Kanger coils in any resistance without the silicone.

Sounds like you need a new atomizer. If you've been dry burning your current atomizer and 'cooking' it more that about 5-6 seconds per firing, yeah you may have cooked the center pin insulator. If you have not been dry burning or firing the atomizer for extended periods (accidental firings). Cleaning and dry burning may fix your issue.

Either Fasttech has old stock or are selling knock offs labeled as Kanger because I have gotten both types from them recently.

This has been the same with UK vendors. I've not had anything but grey silicone for a month or two (finally..). All my old "evod" heads still have the white bungs...

Ugh that burned plastic taste is unmistakable. I had a batch of the non-silicone grommets and kept having a problem with "hot legs". No matter what you do to it, once that grommet is burnt, the taste is not going away.

If the grommet cannot be saved, you can get replacements here

AGA Series Positive Post Insulators - 10 pack - Kidney Puncher

They're not a perfect fit, but they work. I'm cheap and didn't want to have to buy a whole knew atomizer when I just needed a grommet.

If the scorch marks on the rubber grommet are only on the top lip (the part that sits closest to the coil) you can do this modification - the scorch marks are cut away, and there is no lingering taste/smell.

Before dry burning, remove the flavour wick. Otherwise it will take up the flavour of the gunk.
I have both versions of the Kanger heads and no problems. They don't last indefinitely though. 3 weeks was my best so far. (Continuous use of one head). My average is about 10-12 days. I have 4 Evods in rotation, so I replace coils about every 5 to 6 weeks.
