Hey everyone. As of late, my EVOD setup has been giving me weird issues. The first couple vapes seem good. Then they progressively get more and more hard to drag. It almost feels like the holes are clogging up as I'm vaping. Weird thing is this is happening with several different tanks. I use the tanks it came with and Mini Protank IIs. I've tried different atomizers with the same results.

The only thing I've done differently lately is I've been cleaning them by soaking them in hot water instead of Vodka like I was doing before.

Could soaking in water cause this? Could it be a issue with the batteries? Anything else I might try?

I do clean the tanks and coils regularly. I have 6-7 tanks in rotation and always use a clean one. When I clean, I dry burn the coils and stick a needle in the air holes to make sure they are clear.

One thing I did forget. I normally use cotton balls for my wicks. This time, I was the cotton string from Walmart on several coils. I separated the thread and use 3 strands in the coil and two on top for the flavor wick. Could switching to the cotton string be the problem? Could it be "chocking" because I have too much thread in?

Edit: And I ALSO forgot this happens with any juices. I've tried really thin to thick juices.

How long have you been using the same coils? They do have a "life," depending on the viscosity of the liquid, they last a week or two if the liquid is darker. I've found that with menthol flavors or clear colored liquids they can last up to a month with periodical cleaning.

I use them for a week or two and re-coil them if necessary. When I dry burn, if its super slow to glow red or all of the coils don't glow evenly, it usually gets re-coiled. Everytime I fill a tank with a new flavor, a new (or rebuilt) coil goes in. So, that comes out to about 3, 4 max, tanks per coil.

Thats what I'm wondering. But it seems to be happening with both batteries.

Honestly, maybe its just me. Maybe I'm out growing the EVOD.

Are they both Ego batteries? Yeah, tight pulls usually suggest not enough airflow. But I've never experienced that with an EVOD. most times I've had to block one of the holes because it was too airy. Same with mini Protanks. SUPER airy pulls on that one.

I doubt coils getting gunked up to the point of restricting air flow is really possible and having the thing produce any usable vapor.

I would suggest it's most likely a small amount of juice leakage that collecting or pooling in the base of the coil unit.

Next time this occurs... remove the coil unit, then remove the center stem and rubber gasket from the top... check the center stem for anything in it. Then make sure there's a visible gap between the center walls and your wick/flavor wicks. Then hold the coil unit up close to a light source wide end toward the light... you should be able to see light through the base. If not, there's your air clog.

If you don't want to fool with it that much... just remove the clearo from the battery and give it a good strong blow through the drip tip. Odds are some juice will be expelled and your air flow problem resolved. Then use a paper towel and clean any juice from the base and the battery connection.

ya know, when ya start altering factory design
you have to adjust on the fly...

your goal is to fill the gap/hole UNDER chimney stem
so fluid won't just leak/seap thru coil - but don't pack it so tight
that it restricts wicking and air flow...

sounds like you are using TO MUCH wicking material...
so say putting it back together with NO flavor wicks fills the gap,
then just one strand of your yarn would be sufficient...
(to prevent chimney (metal) from touching live coil)

But you think 3 strands in the coil is fine? Or is that too much?
