Hi,

I've only been vaping for 3 weeks. I started with a Evod starter kit(which hasn't given me any problems). I like the idea the heads are recoilable and easy to clean.
I've been using 1300 Vision spinners for about a week with the Evod clearos with no problems(I'm really liking these). As far as juices go I've tried a couple from a few different places(7 in all)
My problem....
I Wanted to try some cinn/citrus juices so I got a Mini Protank II v2. It was washed and new head installed. At first vaping with this was like chewing on pennies. My teeth tasted like metal for hours after just a few draws. I tried washing and changing the head three times, no luck. Covering the drip tip helped so I got a new drip tip(anodized aluminum) thinking it might be the plated drip tip. Still no luck, the taste is not as bad but still there. Next I washed it again and let it soak overnight in vinegar and distilled water.
On a side note this removes the dark gunmetal coating on the base so now the whole thing is chrome, no more weird dark base.
However the with or with out the tip covered the taste comes back. Not at first, it's fine for the first few draws and then the metallic taste builds up draw after draw.

Any hope for this tank?

Thanks,
4WLO

Well its a miniprotank2 so the tip is replaceable so you should be able to get a plastic, glass, or ceramic tip;

I myself am bothered by the chrome on my lips; I have 4 protank-style (not replaceable tip), so I use plummer's tape and wrap it on the tip; wrap alot - thick - till I don't taste the metal anymore; works; I change the tape or add some more if it looks dirty after a few days.

I use chrome tips on all my pt2's. I use aluminum on my evod pen style. I don't have a problem with the metal/chrome tips. But to each their own.

Welcome to ECF and the awesome world of vaping :D! If you just started 3 weeks ago it could be due to the infamous "vapors tongue". Hang in there it will go away. I'm on my 4th month and ran into the same problem around week 3. Try changing juice flavors to a menthol or something totally different, especially if you have been using the same flavor for 3 weeks. I used the same flavor for the first 3 weeks. Your taste buds actually get use to the rate and dull it or completely changed it. I have a mixture I vape whenever I can. It's my absolute fav! But after a few days of chain vaping it gets a burnt taste :( and I have to change up. Also DRINK plenty of WATER! Vaping dehydrates you and can cause a change it taste as well.

HAPPY VAPING!

I think I'll try an acrylic drip tip to see if that helps. Never been bothered by metal before. That's why I was thinking it was the plated drip tip. Maybe the base is the same plated stuff and that's adding to the taste(After the gunmetal coating was removed the SS/chrome is a slightly different tint than the SS top and bottom of the tank, but very close to the drip tip.).

I would first swap that head out, if the taste persist then i would try to boil it for a bit , make sure to remove your o rings.
I've swapped the heads three times. It was washed in hot water each time and the last time soaked in vinegar overnight. Don't know if boiling would do anything different but I'll give it a try.

So....Things to try...
Acylic drip tip
Boiling
Recoil myself

We'll see. I was hoping this tank would be as good as everything else I've tried in this new endeavor. Maybe not. Oh well, if not I'll chalk it up to the journey.

Good to know, I have noticed this with the first juice i started with. It was very layered so good. Blueberries, waffles, and butter. Loved it! Now it has started to taste like generic syrup.

I did forget to mention that I tried my Evod tank side by side with the same juice that was in the miniPT2 and no metallic taste. This was done through a range of voltages on both.

Get a plastic drip tip and see if that will be any better.
Will do, first on the list.

Thanks,

*Update*

I was sitting at my desk last night and picked up the MiniPT2. Still tasted nasty. Hadn't got a non metal drip tip yet. So I grabbed a mechanical pencil and cut it up. I used about an inch of the body and a 1/4" of the rubber grip as a gromit (in place of an o ring). Stuck it in the tank and no metallic taste vaped with it all night like this...No metallic taste at all.
So today at lunch I stopped by a local vape shop and picked up a wooden drip tip(I'll see how long it lasts). So far no nasty taste.
Problem solved!

I got a genisis tank in the mail 2 days ago and been using it since; the mouthpiece (drip tip) is black, but it turns out it's metal painted black; and I've ended up taping that over with plummers tape too; so it seems to me in my case it might not be the metal so much as the *heat* when sometimes I run the thing kind of hot and the metal conducts the heat to my lips.

I've orders some glass driptips from fasttech; hopefully I'll get them before march

Believe me. Drip tip DOESNT make the flavor go bad or even burnt! Coil head...

Usually that metallic taste comes from my fresh coils for a little while, it goes away in an hour or so normally. I would too point at the drip tip if OP found this to be the culprit. Whatever plating process was used could've been done very poorly.
I don't have the metallic taste problem with proper stainless steel driptips or aluminium.

Bad head! Have same problems with brand new authentic heads... One wrap is slightly bigger and it gloves when fired and burns the flavor.

I agree. I'd say a bad head as well. Swap it out. If that doesn't fix it. It will make you very sad but dump the tank as well and wash it out. I had a brand new coil burn up and it actually contaminated the tank. I just filed it too. 2.5ml gone just like that. But it got rid of the burnt taste.
