Having fallen in love with hemp wicked EVOD's and Pro tanks, and with a Billet Box on pre-order I decided to spend a little time working on a way to use these heads in a Billet Box. Not yet having the Billet Box, I do not know with 100% certainty that this will work, but I'm quite sure that it will as long as the bottom o-ring of the BB tank lines up OK at the bottom.

I put this together with stuff laying around in my junk e-cig drawer. 510 adapter, and a used flanged DCT carto.

Eddie Adams is also working on something similar. Is a shame that the head needs to have base flange diameter reduced, otherwise someone with the right tools could easily make a drop in set made of SS that peeps not into making homemade mods could just drop in the already readily available Kanger heads.

The base is a 510 adapter with the pin removed and drilled out to 7/32". Male threads and top air slots also ground off. A lot of brass here so I have ordered a couple of SS 901-510 female adapters from Provape.
Atomizer Adapter 901 to 510 Let y'all know how this works when I get them.

Here is the 510 adapter ground down and drilled. Take care not to damage the female threads. The head screws into this.

Here is the EVOD head with the bottom flange ground off so it will fit through the carto tank. I'll wick it later.

Here is a Pro Tank stem soldered into a DCT base. This is the part that comes pressed into a DCT carto. The flange and male threads have been ground off. I used a Pro Tank Stem rather than the smaller diameter EVOD stem since the PT stem fit snuggly into the hole that was left in the DCT end cap.

This is the EVOD head screwed into what's left of the 510 adapter.

Here it is all put together. More exposed brass than I would like, but if the 901-510 works, that will minimize it.

Next to a standard 510 carto.

I'm F ing impressed... bravo sir.. I've modified my original. Lil something extra. Drawing it up Wednesday with engineer friend.

D is the only one that looked at my original sketch and "got" it. Got a bunch of "huhs"? and " they already have that". Nothing with mal intent , just didn't get it..

Curious about the filling part. One of my concerns is the recessed wick area dropping below the cap gasket when filling in a traditional tank. How have you found it?

Awesome D

edit:I do realize that isn't necessary with its intended purpose in a billet box.. Just wondering...

I upload them to face book. Just checked, and I do have it set to public view.

Anyone else?

I was able to view them by quoting your post in a reply and then copying the image URL's into a different browser tab. Wonder if it's a Chrome extension blocking Facebook links in my browser. It's not Adblock doing it....

Oh, and awesome work Big Screen D!!

Ok I'm a noob so please excuse me for asking stupid questions. You see I was going to buy a provari as my next purchase, but when I saw the Billet Box I knew I had to have one!

Anyway on to the question. How does this mod improve or add to the Billet Box? Are you saying that with this mod you don't have to use a carto?

Thanks!

A DIY carto with a replaceable head... can't beat that!

Yeah, that perplexed me for a bit too. Then it dawned on me that the wicks could be recessed into the carto hole below the tank wall a bit since it is a small enough diameter that juice can still get to it. So long as the 510 adapter base doesn't go below the tanks bottom o-ring, this will work.

EDIT: Oh I see, you were referring to filling. DD's ball valve=no worries there.

Tank came in today, and I'm now certain this will work. Going to wick it, and rig up some wires to fire and vape a couple of tanks this weekend if I can find a little free time. No, I will make the time.

Ravens, and Divers, meet the BSD Condor!

Some pics to show the fit in the real deal.

This WAS my only area of concern. Would where the base seats in the bottom o-ring have enough adjustment available to not worry about a small movement up or down dumping juice? Due to the thinness of the tanks wall, and placement of the tanks o-ring this is no longer a concern at all.

Man, now that I can see the compact size of just the tank, I'm able to visualize how compact the Billt Box really is. Anyone wanna by a Provari? J/K...One should always have at least one solid backup. Good for checking ohms too:p

somebody lend him a BB? hehe

I'd like to help, I really would, I actually thought about it earlier this evening when I saw the picture on the BB thread. I thought, this shouldn't go unrewarded, he doesn't even have a BB and look at everything he's doing. Then I thought "Sorry dude, you'll have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers."

Yes, I really do need a Billet Box! But not for testing. Behold the Lollipop version:facepalm:

Not wanting till wait until June to know how well these would work, I threw this together for some virtual testing. Stock 2.4ohm coil, re-wicked with hemp. Through 2/3rds of a tank, I'm pleased to be able to say this meets every expectation I had for this atty mod.

Dry hits=0
Gurgle=1 at initial fill, and zero since.
Drops leaked out=0
Draw is a bit airy, but that is to be expected since the bottom is wide open, and should be identical to an EVOD once used in a Billet Box.
Looks I get from the family, and people looking at me driving around town...priceless:D

Cruddy pic of the "Lollipop"

SS adapter bases came today. Just waiting on the BB tank to come in, then I'll be able to make any necessary adjustment and this should be good to go.
Well it turns out the adapters from Provape are not SS. They are a much harder alloy though so I assume more tin. If anyone knows where I can find true SS 510 adapters, help an old guy out.

One of these atty's will be in the hands of the person who knows the BB best today for use in the real deal. Quite sure it will work since I have vaped almost 30 ml on my test rig but there is no substitute for real world testing.
