Of course I did! I find the passionate debate of electrical calculations so refreshing. All these people doing math!!!
The math part makes no sense to me. I will say there is relative zone I vape in but, it varies. More with voltage. I'm usually around 4.0 or higher. With wattage almost always at 8.

Are you sticking with a chart calculation even if it makes you daily vape taste bad? No you'll adjust until it does.

Then not every liquid is the best at the same settings. Varies from liquid to liquid.

I'm just going to ride this out. Chart says it's right...

What chart? Or should I say watt chart? I start at 8w and dial up or down to taste.

ETA: I meant the math part cracks me up.

Very nice tutorial OP. Great pics!

I prefer the hemp wicks so much more than the stock silica that I re-wick even brand new heads.

Couple of things I do slightly different. I use a drill bit that is the same size (1/16"?) as the heads wick opening and leave the bit in which keeps the coil perfectly round and aligned with the wick opening while pulling the legs taught before breaking off the excess. Makes sliding the wick thru a snap. I use a 5-6 wrap of 32ga Nichrome which yields 1.7ohms. Having the bit in place also allows to concentrate the coils three wraps on each side leaving a gap in the middle like the stock wick. Of course Kanthal would work just as well, just slightly higher ohms.

For the hemp wick, I cut a piece about 1.5 inches long and unravel the individual strands. For the hemp I have from Michea'ls, six strands separated from the twine is the right amount. I then dampen the hemp with juice, and twist tight to slide it thru the coil. Once thru, I un-twist in the opposite direction to loosen the wick up and fill the coil.

Oh, and dry fire the coil briefly a few times before wicking to burn off any machining oils.

To replace the used wick, dry burn the wick to ash and rinse out.

BSD it's me man. I heat the wire prior to coiling. It's good to know I could go that low. Haven't tried on the ProTank. I've always thought the really low ohms affect the flavor adversely. Since my aga-t2. I will try that though. It is a different design. What diameter is the Michaels hemp twine? I think mine is 7 strands 1mm.
The reason I stopped really unravelling the wick was that after awhile the flavor wick( on the EVOD only this far) would slowly"shape" to the top post hole/ opening and make the draws very labored. I'm talking awhile though. After many tanks and a couple vodka baths.

Yep, pre_heating will work too. I run that 32ga around 3.2v on my EVIC.

Really has me considering buying a few plain ole eGo's.
Yeah that's low but, you're still getting 6 wraps in there so performance should be very similar.
I just checked out that billet box. I liked it so much but, hate carts that I can't rebuild that I designed one I could and think it would work. I'll pm you my detailed drawing. lol curious what you would think..

I've been wanting to try some natural fiber but i still have 6 ft 2mm to run out. Have to say thats a interesting way to recoil i guess i've never thought about installing the coil n then adding wick i either wrap w wick or i pull wick through w a bead threader after doing a wrap w a screw (vivi nova, ce5) my protank not ready for a build yet but i'll sure keep this in mind. :vapor:

Reason I did it like that was to allow for wick replacement which sometimes is needed with natural. Or scrap a perfectly good coil.

It's no longer allowing me to edit my initial post but, with Big Screen D's recommendation I actually separated the twine into individual strands then inserted the same way. It works quite well. Little more tedious but, worth it..

Like natural tie down twin cause i have some of that? or bamboo twin just wondering cause i plan on experimenting w a few natural fibers when i do. plan on boiling n all that as well. k just looked back hemp twine.

The bamboo sounds viable. The natural twine is probably too course. Bamboo, cotton, and hemp.

Just make sure they're 100% natural.. Quick way to check would be to burn some. Does it burn clean? No melting, converts straight to ash... Yeah definitely boil then dry immediately if it's a large amount to prevent any mold growth..

An even better coil technique. Covers more area. 3 wraps space 3 wraps.

Instead of trimming or cutting the leg extensions simply hold and press the head tightly in one hand then grab the extensions tightly and do several small circles. They should break off closer than you'll ever get by trimming. Sorry I couldn't photo this

This is a little more tedious wick technique but, produces slightly better vapor. Separate your twine into individual pieces and place through and over the coil. Amount varies from twine to twine. I sometimes just do this for the flavor wick only.( over the coil) Or I just stick to the original.
