Has anyone re-wrapped there EVOD with ribbon wire yet? I have mine wrapped with .01 x .05 ribbon @ 1.7ohm's,and the juice tastes burnt, even at 3.5v's.I have re-wrapped with 30,and 32 kanthal and have not had this burnt taste, with the EVOD,before.I was just tinkering around yesterday having to rebuild all of my rba's and also decided, what the heck, wrap the EVOD with some ribbon and see how it goes.I guess the ribbon wire is going to stay on my rba's and go back to 30 Kanthal with this Kanger. If anyone has done this with success, how and what ohm rate did you wrap it?

So im new to this, but I just wrapped .5 guage ribbon wire around 2 mm EkoWool with 4 wraps. Im only getting 1.3 ohm, it would be hard to get more wraps to fit in there. It hits hard, lot of throat hit and I'm definitely getting a nicotine head rush, however not a ton of vapor.

What do you guys think, should I double up the Ekowool to 2 strands, would that help get more vapor? I don't get burnt hits like you are but would like more vapor. Is the .5 ribbon guage too thick? This is my first rebuilt EVOD head which I am using in a ProTank. Any pointers would be awesome!

I've never used ribbon, but it would seem with that material there is more element exposed to the liquid and it's going to heat up and vaporize much more quickly, perhaps more quickly than the wicking material is able to provide liquid. That would explain why there's harshness in the throat hit, little vapor produced and a burnt flavor during a typical 2-4 second draw.

What is the smallest gauge thickness/width of ribbon wire? If I were to try it (and I might), I'd go with the smallest gauge I could find and maybe work up from there. As noted above, the width of the ribbon makes it difficult to put enough wraps around the wick and make it fit in the Evod/PT/MT3S head at a resistance level around 2.0Ω, which seems to be the Evod's sweet spot on 3.7v devices.

Mine is similar but no burnt hit, what wicking material?

He is talking about the wick that sticks out at the bottom of tank and the filler wicks that sit on top of the coil itself.Kanger is in the bad habbit of putting three filler wicks on top of the coil in there Evods,T3's etc...

I started thinking it could have been the thickness of the ribbon(especially using a LR ribbon build) i was using but at the time i only had .05 x .01 ribbon here.I have a few more of the ribbon wire on order though.

Again, I've never worked with the stuff, but I'm assuming 0.05 measures the width and 0.01 measures the thickness. Are there other options available? For example, can you also get 0.03 or 0.02 width? I would think you could get another wrap or two and get closer to your sweet spot with less wide ribbon.

Yea they do,like i said i only had that at home at the time.I have three other sizes coming on order.I might just go back to regular Kanthal in the EVOD and keep the ribbon on my other RBA's.The .05 x .01 is equivalent to,i think,30 or 32 gauge Kanthal.I have some .04 and .08 and .02 coming.Even if they do not work well with the EVOD they were not that expensive.I only paid $8 for each spool of them off ebay.
